Rage3D v5.0 - what do you want to see?

You guessed wrong. The site is never going live.

Oh ya? I can finally rest in peace then

I'd like to see some sort of subforum in the feedback section or wherever for threads that are edited/deleted/closed by mods/admins. Set it so that only long term members or subscribers could view, keep it closed for posting.

Reason I say this is many times threads will get edicted/erased and something will happen, someone will get banned or just leave on their own, and everyone else is wondering WTF happened. If there was someothing just downright offensive or so egregious maybe black it out or something?

IDK..stuff always happens and most people don't know why.

What about an introduction subforum? I haven't seen someone make an introduction thread in years and I see new people join almost everyday though they most likely have a question that gets answered and they move on. Maybe a place like that would get some people to stick around after a warm and friendly welcome :manches:

Update.

Since this site upgrade is being discussed in several different threads, from several different aspects, seems like a status update is necessary. I DO NOT want the non-site upgrade issues from the other threads leaking into here, so lets keep this completely specific to the Rage3D v5.0.

Here's where we are, and where we've actually been for quite some time now. The Wordpress front end is basically done. Little bit of tweaking here and there, mostly to bring it current again since there are likely quite a few updates pending due to the long layoff. Technically though, its pretty much there. So, what's the hold up?

Direction. Vision. Focus. The issues being discussed elsewhere are bringing clarity, and a course of action. Over the next week or two, as we discuss this as staff and consult with you, we will know who we are and where we want to go. Maybe that's the problem of having a "fun site" made by enthusiasts for enthusiasts ... too used to just letting it ride, not realizing that we're running rudderless. Well, that's ending now. People will either get on board or they won't, but we're developing direction.

So, with direction will come a bit of tweaking as we model the front end to fit. While we do that, we're going to revamp our rules / guidelines, bring in new staff (moderators, technical, content), and make adjustments (in structure and policy) to the forums. The new front end will launch first, and then we'll focus on the forums, bringing it current and blending it with the front end.

Some of this will be behind the scenes, some of it will be in view and with the members involved in the process. One thing Ichy and I are clear on is that we want more member involvement in the site. You guys do some pretty cool things, and OUR website should be a fun venue to experience and showcase what we're all doing. Technologies currently unsupported will be available to us, and I for one am pretty stoked to explore what we'll be able to do.

Rage3D was created by enthusiasts, who saw an opportunity to create a place to enjoy cool things. We're returning to that mindset.

If there is any help needed in the PC gaming section I'd like to be involved in that some way.

Are the articles already running the new layout/look? It's kinda jarring going from the main page to a Technical Game Review.

BTW Any idea about going further with the software review stuff?

:yahoo:

Maybe a silly question, but I have a good reason for asking. Has thought been given to perks for subscribers vs non subscribers? KACs thread in OT generated some interest, and I've seen that concern posted...

There are already perks enjoyed by subscribers (link). With a new system, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we're able implement new cool stuffs.

The article templates are certainly more updated than the rest of the site, but are not running the new layout.

That's what I was curious about, thanks Lupine. :)

Can we nominate new mods (Munkus/Grey) now?

Also, can we get our own cryptocurrency? All the cool kids are doing it.

I want to see a Linux forum and OS X forum that aren't buried where no one can see them.

And people who come there to troll being banned :bleh2:

New section located next to PC gaming, and Console Gaming titled. Rage3D Streaming Services for our local, and want to be streamers to update their streams. Plus a place for people to learn how.

Please no more forums. Too many as it is
