Path of Exile (Free Action RPG)

Only played a couple hours last night, but they don't. Micro's are cosmetic only. There is a button in the UI on the bottom to add points and that is all I've seen.

and FYI for people.. the game is 3gig, but the initial d/l is 2 gig, you launch it gives an error, d/l another gig, launch. error, more d/l, launch, error... doesn't take long but will throw you off. Strange though cuz Shootmania does the same thing to me. Could be Win 7 file write permissions.

Just bought the $10 key. Gonna give this a go. Looks to good to pass up. I like the customization options available. No cookie cutter stuff.

I ended up picking up a key too. I've been enjoying it so far. I really enjoy the customization options. It looks like there are quite a few potential viable builds.

My brief impressions:

Combat is much slower than D3. Reminds me of Titan Quest in that regard. Characters and monsters are large and very detailed. Some very creative and weird looking things to kill. Skill gems, barter system instead of gold, and the gargantuan passive skill maze all keep things fresh.

Negatively, the UI could use some cleanup, as could the text and interaction with NPCs. Lag was pretty bad on the Americas server. At one point they said they had about 5500 people online. That seems small, but not sure how many they need to make a profit... Does concern me about investing in this game only to see it folding in a few months. Steam integration could probably solve that, but going from 5500 to 55000 by moving to steam could crash everything.

Overall it is fun and I might consider ten bucks for continued beta access. Glad I tried this.

Anyone play the current iteration of Mythos? Wondering if you were to pick an MMOARPG, which you'd choose and why.

I've been playing POE as well and have essentially given up on D3.

The loot in POE is better, and the passive system and sockets are new and refreshing.

Seems like they´re replacing Maelström of Chaos with Eternal Laboratory (havent played for quite a while, might be old news.)
Video with a bit of info on endgame stuff:

Maelstrom was pretty messed up, but it was never anything more then a placeholder I guess.

That video makes me want to play more of this game. I was already having fun with it, but I had that thing in the back of my head where I was worried about the wipe before it was officially released, or if they would do a wipe.

Kripp streamed this game for about 10 hours this weekend. You can see the video here, it's interesting as Chris_GGG (a PoE dev) joined their mumble server about halfway through and did a Q+A with them as well as discussed many aspects of the game/game development etc.

Awesome, thanks for the link.

Combat looks extremely slow. If the gameplay is good though and weapons/abilities have some umph to them, might be good.

I've been playing this game, and it's way more fun then Diablo 3, and it seems to be way more rewarding! The skill tree is mind boggling, but not too bad once you figure out places you wanna go.

I'm definitely playing this game in the future!

I like D3 a lot and have spent countless hour on the game. It was the first time i had ever played a genre like that so it will have a special place but Path of Exile imho is a far superior game and i've had more fun on it. The charcter ability customisation is insane and to get an example of how grand it is watch the Build of the Week videos from the Path of Exile website
