How about dem gas prices?

I need an electric car with a 500mile range when loaded with 5 people and their luggage.
Sadly, doesn't exists. So I have my 17mpg acadia for road trips.

You could always just rent a van or something if you need that requirement for trips..........:bleh: :bleh:

well, i'm averaging around 28/29 mpg if i drive a bit "sporty", not bad, but if the prices continue climbing then we're in trouble. Walking isn't an option because my workplace is 17 miles away. Bus would cost me 3 (!) hours ONE way (the joy of living in the countryside). So the car is the only viable option.

Well, we'll see how this will play out in the next few weeks/months....i guess

Sure. I'm not on any side. I think people who say president's (administrations) have no affect on gas prices are wrong, though. Policy sends ripples.

There wasn't much reason to pump a bunch of oil permits during the Trump administration. There is now, though. The oil permits and how the current administration is boasting it as a talking point is .. misleading. It will take some time before there is production on those lands, and longer before the production is meaningful. Regardless, it's a move in the right direction. We should have started doing this the second Russia started massing troops on the borders, but hindsight is 20/20.

Not to get too P&R, but jeez am I glad the former pres said what he said about Putin. The man killed any chance of an attempt at running in 2024 all on his own.

Prices are up all over the world, not just here, so it's pretty disingenuous to blame it on the Biden administration. Fact of the matter is, oil companies are again raking in massive, frankly ludicrous profits, we're the ones paying for that.

Def walking more which is fine since I live in town. But even if I wasnt would be hard to justify a hybrid or other vehicle to save maybe 100$ a month on gas.

I figure id save maybe 200$ if prices doubled from here on out. New car payments are lot more than that.

Problem is its not just gas. My insurance has just gone up 30%, gas last time i filled my tank it was $66 and has gone up since so will probably be $70 next time and I usually fill it once a week, used to be around $45 so that's an extra $100. My weekly groceries has gone up probably 25%. My natural gas bill last month was $300 where at the worst last year was $200, together with power was $400, that's almost double to what I paid last year. If I can save a little on gas if we get a hybrid it will certainly help

same here, everything got pricier. I really dunno how we're supposed to deal with it in the long run. The only thing that almost stayed the same is our salary -.-

Every cent I pay more for gas is one more cent that is helping the Ukrainians kick the ever-living-s* out of the Russians.

Take my money, I don't care.

Go electric and give a big middle finger to all oil autocracies. Wonder how much the Tesla owners on this board have saved. Fortunately WFH means I only fill up once a month. Tech workers should clamor to either keep WFH or get pay raises for the extra gas they burn (unless they all drive Teslas too, anyone done a survey of one of their campuses parking lots?)

I am fortunate, i got a $21 000 raise couple of weeks ago but i don't want all of that to go to usual things because prices has gone up. I would like to save damn it

Every day Russians are conducting this war is money they're spending that they don't have.

They can't access their money, they can't borrow, they can't sell. If Putin is spending 20 billion a day on this misadventure, he's going to run out of money - and it won't take long.

We're going to dry him up, because truth be told, war is always about financial attrition. All Ukraine needs to do is hold the line until that happens.

So if I have to pay more money at the pump in order for Russia to not be able to sell their oil, so be it.

If you believe that Ukraine deserves their democracy then that requires sacrifice from all of us. It's about time people in this country understand that the free world we live in has a COST.

Would the hybrid save on insurance in your country? My neighbor's hybrid Rav4 was basically the same rate.

Def an issue that everything has gone up and most of it is profit gouging. Corporations are jumping on the bandwagon of higher prices because they think they can get away with it. Not because their costs have gone up that much.

This is as much an economic war than a political one for sure. And we can tell or push our businesses to do it or else. Wouldnt want to be a carmaker doing business with the enemy right now they might just get boycotted by the rest of the world.

Not sure. Our lease is up in July, will see how things stand then

Every single gas station in Sweden would be cleaned out in seconds if we only had to pay 4-5 dollars per gallon for gas, that is crazy cheap.

The Biden administration just announced that they’re banning all oil & gas imports from Russia here in the U.S. which, I’d heard but haven’t double checked, equates to roughly 10% of our imports and likely a $0.50 price increase on average across the country (some areas will be worse, some maybe better, etc).

Seems reasonable to me.

If the Toyota 4Runner or some bigger SUV option comes to the market that offers 300 ish mile range on a charge while fully loaded with doggos and luggage and kids, and can use Telsa’s network, then I’m in.

I didn't blame anything on any administration.. I'm not sure where you're getting that from?

All I've said is administrative policy can influence pricing. I'm not blaming anyone for what we're experiencing right now; quite frankly I'd rather pay $5/gal if we can stick it to Russia. Get our oil production rolling heavily so in a few months time it can tick back down to more sane pricing.
