Federal EV Tax Credit Phase Out Tracker By Automaker

Based on our recent estimates and forecast, Toyota will be the next manufacturer to reach the 200,000 tax credit phaseout threshold, likely in Q1 of 2022. Ford is most likely to quickly follow Toyota and reach 200,000 sales of EVs in Q3 2022, followed by Nissan, but not until at least Q2 or Q3 of 2023.

good maybe they will have to lower prices
Tax Credits just go to the manufacturer at our expense they just jack the price up to match the Tax Credit

Ford Juices Production Of Lightning F-150 Electric Truck To Meet Demand

Ford workers, top executives and a group of F-150 Lightning customers joined a party at Ford's Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, marking the sharp acceleration of the assembly system. Ford has been building Lightnings for several weeks, parking them in lots around its Dearborn headquarters.

The automaker had planned to build just 40,000 Lightning trucks annually, but surging demand for electric vehicles prompted Ford to increase planned production twice since last August. It has geared up a new part of its Rouge manufacturing complex to build 150,000 of the heavily modified version of its best-selling F-150 pickup truck annually.

With a dig at competitors from Tesla to General Motors Co, Chief Executive Jim Farley said the Lightning will cost "thousands of dollars less than our competitors' trucks -- whenever they go on sale."

About 200,000 customers made reservations for the Lightning before Ford cut off taking preliminary orders in December.

Farley said the Lightning will hit showrooms "in a couple days." That would be behind startup Rivian's electric R1T pickup, but well ahead of GM's electric Silverado, Stellantis NV's promised electric Ram truck and Tesla's Cybertruck, which has been delayed until next year at the earliest.
just for test drives from what i hear
you can't buy one or reserve one till the first 200k reservation are filled
so i don't see the point in increasing the hype when they can't make enough now

They're pumping production up heavily.

Truthfully, I'm surprised to see so much demand for this thing. I don't get the novelty to be honest with you, but I guess the pricing isn't bad at all considering how expensive trucks are these days.

They need to keep the hype high. You planning on going down to a dealer to test-drive one, Bill?

I sorta get it. If you're an average commuter that doesn't go very far what's not to like about a vehicle that can haul/tow a bunch of stuff if needed for short distances around the 'hood and give sports cars a run for their money and save you a little on the high cost of gas and feel like you're not seriously messing up the environment. If the bidirectional charger is reasonable the thing can act as a backup generator for your whole house for 3 days and really help you play electric rate arbitrage when you plan on being home all day. Just the last two things is enough make me take interest though I could never justify owning a truck since I rarely have to haul anything.

to look yes i want to see some things in person and get a real height i see both 77.2 and 78.9 and find out how much it will squat with about 800 pounds of weight
my carport is 85.5 inches doesn't give me a lot of room for a ladder rack
i may need to remodel it a bit i think i can add 5 to 7 inches changing the wood beam to steal and cutting the fascia board or do a driveway cover

i don't need to drive it a pickup it a pickup and other than being EV it's the same driving as any f150 for the most part
been driving pickups and real SUV's since my first of three 77 k5 blazer

and try to find out where my reservation number is in the pack

I am hoping they get the programing and setup for a small 2 inch lift and leveling kit and better tires that doesn't kill the range and blue cruise
if it won't fit in the carport i might as well lift it

comes with the extended range package for a 10k add on

now wiring your house isn't but you don't have to wire it bidirectional
you just need a 100 amp breaker and wire or 150 amp wire for a long run

for bidirectional add a smart switch

Ford F-150 Lightning Max Payload And Impact On Driving Range

[yt]6oKRfOpZi-Y[/yt]

According to Jordan, the Lightning pulled off an impressive 1.8 miles per kWh. To be clear, this is only about a 5 percent reduction compared to the truck's efficiency on the same route without the extra weight.

cool

my ladders will affect range

but the Smartcap may help in aerodynamics that seem to matter more in the freeway

Just got a call from the Ford dealership. They have a demo XLT there I can go check out. Nothing to buy, of course, but they say they might be able to shortcut the list. I'm skeptical but looking forward to setting in one just the same.

Which is the better deal? This or Rivian?

I would go for the one with the best/longest warranty myself.

I would also rather have 2nd gen. Let them squash bugs and make refinements.

The Ford is probably a better deal, but it is too traditional for my taste. I'm more interested in the Rivian for that reason alone.

that is the Ford's best draw for a work truck

everything that will fit on a standard F 150 bed of the same size will fit on the Lighting bed, caps, ladder racks, tool boxes, bed drawers .....

it will be years before they make 25% of the add-on's for the Rivian

and the dodge and chevy are useless for a work truck

only the ford has a normal bed not connected to the cab

Oh of course. I know why they did what they did, and I am not part of their target demographic. But there are A LOT of people who are.

Ford is almost ready to take new F-150 Lightning orders — with a $7,000 price hike

Ford said it will honor the original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) for all current order holders. But anyone plunking down the $100 deposit starting Thursday, when reservations reopen, will have to pay the newly adjusted price.

https://www.theverge.com/2022/8/9/23298076/ford-f-150-lightning-electric-truck-price-order-2023

that is going to take the base model short range to around 50K

they completely lost their mind. But, as usual, there will be enough morons who will still gladly pay that price.
