Official: "What did you do to your car today?" Thread

Gotta pay to play.

Last thing this past week was shoes all around for the fat bitch X6. 1750 smackaroos + tax and other fees  Going on a road trip soonish so got to get her shoes ready for the walk. Got her a blood transfusion as well.

well, it's more or less a 100k (or more, depending on the model) car, so not really surprising. I've seen tire sets up to 4k and more, ridiculous.

As logical said, gotta pay to play.

Wait, is your Cayenne a hybrid? When you said “battery,” I was picturing a regular lead-acid car battery.

This is where im confused as well, unless he bought a hybrid (which i dont think he did) i dont see how he would have a lithium battery in it.

Many cars now use a lithium battery instead of the old usual lead acid starter battery. My motorcycle even has lithium. Had to get a new type of battery charger and my tiny cycle battery is $190 if it dies.

really now?

damn...

Im glad i hate all the new fangled expensive crap.

more pay to play shenanigans with premium brands.....

Yeah im not looking forward to getting new shoes for the X1. So far the all seasons have been fine, but winter's coming and we hope we can still get away with them for this up coming season (our Conti DWS shows a still viable snow traction via the tread traction indicators). We'll need to get some aftermarket rims and snow tires.....Our OEM wheels are 19" so going to have to find some decent looking 18"s. And tires this big...aint cheap. at least its only 225 width so we're not at high performance fatness territory yet.

The plus side is the wife doesnt drive that much yearly cause a lot of her time is work from home so these should last probably 2 years if not more. Just one less this to worry about although it cost.

I have a Cayenne S not the hybrid. If the core hybrid battery dies then you are looking at about a 10-15K expense.

F that.

As for this battery, as I said I don’t have time to run around a battery as I am traveling this week. It is what it is and for 400 bucks it’s ok to get the dealer battery with one year extra warranty. But next time I am going to a Porsche specialist. I will also not be renewing the warranty for next year which comes due in November as that will cost me 3000$ for just 1 year warranty.

I wonder if you would have actually saved money in the long run if you went with a Lambo Urus or something equivalent lol.

Probably not. If he wanted the engine without the looks he could have gone Audi RSQ8, but we all know he wants the looks. Id say the audi is more of a looker than the Porsche though IMO.

just sold some tires recently for an X5... right around $1400 mounted/balanced

still nothing on the fancy as **** tire my manager bought for his tesla... some $513 (just for the tire) michelin WITH ****ING BLUETOOTH **** BUILT IN

i'm just glad the previous owner of my car put some 80K mile tires on... based on mileage since they were installed barring any unforeseen crap happening i should get another 4-5 years before i need to worry about them and even then it takes 225/60r16 so won't be terrible

Are the TPMs on Teslas bluetooth?

i think they do use bluetooth but are normal rim mounted sensors... the bluetooth in the michelin tire connects to a phone app

the specific model he got was Pilot Sport 4S in 295/30ZR21... he had the car one day and got a nail in the tire

Just when I think I’m getting a handle on how far behind I am, I hear about Bluetooth tires…ugh

I guess being notified of low pressure isn’t a bad thing…..

I think we need to back this up a bit.

2021+ Teslas use bluetooth TPMS. As of right now, there is nothing special about that. They work just like any other. It is believed that tire pressure monitoring may come to the Tesla app, but that would be via communication with the car and not with the TPMS sensors directly.

Michelin does offer connected tires, but (and someone correct me if I am wrong) that does not come on the Pilot Sport 4S ( I had these on my Supra). They do have this in the Sport Cup series tires:

tire rack's page for the 4S

Select original equipment sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S utilize the Michelin Connected Tire System in conjunction with Michelin Acoustic Technology and can be identified by the specific Acoustic and Bluetooth logos on the tire's sidewall.

so some sizes will have it... i've personally seen the tire and can confirm it is the 4S and has bluetooth
