I remember you payed 1550 $ or so for your 6900xt but the MSRP was 1000$ ... Why you said that you paid msrp ?

that's for the reference cards

the aftermarket cards cost more and have a higher MSRP

the GIGABYTE - AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16G GAMING OC MSRP is 1700

so is the XFX - SPEEDSTER MERC319

.....

i'm happy with the ASRock OC Formula it was shipped and sold by newegg not a scalper
aftermarket prices are way too high this time but that was it's MSRP

like best buy prices are MSRP

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/search...rue&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960&keys=keys

it has better power and 3 slot cooling runs quite and no coil whine

From 1000$ to 1700$ is more than 50% more above MSRP just for a cooler and more phases ?
The xfx 6900xt in my country is around 1800$ and this with a promo discount.

It is usable and looks great in several titles.

Personally, I feel it's barely usable. It's usable on high end cards, but anything below a 3060 Ti/2080 Ti it runs like **** (and speaking from firsthand experience with those cards, I consider them both borderline).

Some people consider the frame rates you get on a lower end cards than that to count as "usable", but I don't. I suffered with 60 FPS for a decade and a half due to it taking that much time for LCDs to actually stop having crap refresh rates, and I'm definitely not going back now! ;)

Long live high refresh rates!!

I will say that my 3060 laptop does very well in RTX with DLSS.

1080p of course.

For the others a few pages back saying you're tempted to buy. If you've held out this long I'd strongly encourage you to just hold out for next gen. We're closer to next gen's release then we are to the release of this gen.

If you're willing to consider paying $1500 for a card, then you'll be able to buy something next time around. And next time isn't that far off anymore.

Although I managed to get my hands on a few cards this gen at good prices, in other words not super inflated MSRP, for myself plus friends/family (3080, 3060 Ti, 6800XT, 6800XT Midnight Black), it was a serious hassle. If I do decide to upgrade again next gen and availability is not better, I'll probably just pay the scalping tax right off the bat. One way or another you're paying, whether in time/hassle, or extra money.

Yeah, I get the argument about don't feed the scalpers, but we're already a year and a half into this **** and it's not getting better. It's too late to worry about that anymore, you just have to do what works for you.

Decided that is more important to service my car (250$) and cover a debt of 450$...
The Vega56 is still serving me ok in Indie titles and in other games in 1440p like Euro Truck simulator 2, spintires,Dirt 2 mud runner. This games i haven't played them and a new card may not be necessary.I feel i would regret if not waiting for next gen.
It feels a hassle with the selling the Vega56 too...In a way i don't want to deal with this. Once the next gen cards will be released the vega56 second hand price may crash substantially.I am dissapointed in the RT implementation fiasco now in both nvidia and AMD.All this added together made me not motivated enough in buying a new card .

Last days i played Road 96 game.... What a fun game and refresh experience.

my ASRock OC Formula was 1550 and yes Asus started this high aftermarket prices and we don't have a EVGA to help keep them down

but the MSRP IS 1179 for a 3080 Strix over THE 699 for a FE

aftermarket used to be about 200 to 300 more other than the watercooled one
sadly i think that is lost to the past

A 3090 FE was £1,400 and I paid £1,549 so about 10% which I think is OK for an after market card. I've had bad experiences with AMD reference cards so didn't want to take a chance with NV. My 5700XT was £50 over MSRP and I wouldn't pay £200/300 more for an after market card. Just my 2c's worth.

They're not going to release a 16gb 3070TI. GDDRX6X is too expensive for that.

16gb of vram isn't worth much when the card doesn't have the power to drive 4K..

Somehow nvidia need to get more than 8gb on 3070/3070ti cards. At least 11gb or 12gb.Even 10gb.

8gb is fine for 1440p, which is what the 3070 is good for. 3070ti should have 10gb, I agree.

4000 series should have a decent vram bump. GDDR6X supply was not very good when Ampere released -- I suspect that's part of the reason they skimped on capacity. It's far better now I believe

1440p without RT yes it's still ok unless you wanna play with HD textures...This card is capable with HD textures. But add RT and HD-textures and it will not ok for very long.
I do feel the 3060ti is ok for 8gb...It's cheaper than 3070.

I dont mind waiting....considering nothing is in stock and i cant get an overpriced anything right now anyways lol.

But im itching to upgrade....ive already delayed and will wait for ryzen 7000 for my living room PC build (gonna start that off as an APU, dont need an ultrapowerhouse for the couch style games i have). Im sure I can survive until the RDNA3 cards come out....of course i'd need to get one right at launch to maintain MSRP pricing if we go through yet another year of shortages due to yet another new strain of COVID screwing things up. may even take the opportunity to max out my mobo with a ryzen 5000 CPU if its still available.

Its still about 9 months away but the new stuff will be a huge upgrade across the line from raster to RT.

There is small upgrade to desktop RX6000's being rumored coming in the meanwhile tho... 6nm gpus and 18 gbps GDDR6.
