New Monitor

I couldn't stand how bad the fisheye was on ultrawide on my 38". It was so damn distracting. It might be doing it on 16:9, but it's waaaaaaay less noticeable. I haven't even noticed it AT ALL since going back to 16:9. I'll never do ultrawide again. Yuck!! :p

Playing Rome2 on my 65" C9 is ****ing awesome.

This makes my 38" feel terrible.. really ruining my monitor for myself playing on this thing. ****

TW looks great on 4k TV but I still prefer the extra viewing area of UW. I think TW is one of the titles where it shines.

I don't really notice it with appropriate FOV. Note that some titles don't scale FOV properly and will have more fisheye than those with proper UW support. Usually console ports.

48 is too much. I can meet halfway at 42, but 48 is just ridiculous lol.

Metro Exodus is the one that really made me notice the fisheye on my 38". It's terrible.

I thought 55 wouldn't last for me, then I got the CX. The problem is it sits next to my crappy 32" pc monitor. I used to be able to live with gaming on that until I had both fired up side by side.

I haven't gamed on my pc now for a long time :(

Whats your setup look like though. I imagine that with something so big its got to be set up the right way for it to be comfortable.

I sit 5-8 feet back using a controller on the 55. It's not perfect, but all my office allows for at the moment and not bad at all. My 32" is just a budget hp monitor. Not bad, but my pc is ancient anyway, so I haven't put money into another monitor for it.

Monitor and TV are side by side, about a foot apart. PC chair for monitor and couch for the TV.

Some games are absolutely better on the TV, no doubt, but I find most of the titles/genres I happen to play are better on the monitor.

Is the newer C1 basically the same as the CX?

I think, but havent checked

Unless I'm missing something it seems they're pretty much identical aside from slightly better input lag and some updated software/settings on the C1. Hardly worth the $200 price difference seen here.

Both 48" versions are available.. Wish it went higher than 120hz.

Yeah, it's not much. The input lag on my C9 is non-existent (and rocking GSync :) ) so I can't imagine it's much better on a CX or C1.

I can't say I notice the refresh rate. Especially since at 4K, you're rarely pushing over 120fps anyway, and with GSync enabled you're running variable. I'd trade my 38GL950G 165Hz in a heartbeat for a 38" version of my LG C9 right now.

I believe the C1 has a 20-120 VRR range while the C9/CX are both 40-120.

Wow good timing on the HWU review, what a coincidence. Dropped right after I posted.

Great technology with awesome IQ, those response times are epic. As he says though, for many people it's not quite there for a daily driver PC monitor for several reasons, and I fall into that category.

-size
-Text clarity due to sub pixel layout
-burn in
-inconsistent brightness [as well as lack of brightness]
-no curve [Hate to admit it but for a screen so wide it should be curved on desktop. It's fine further back, but when sitting close at a desk the lack of curve is noticeable and doesn't look right]
-120hz [not bad but not great]

I feel height [and tilt] might be an issue for me too, as the center will probably be sitting too high for me to view comfortably on desktop. Say in an FPS game, the crosshair will be above my comfortable eye level. A smaller version should obviously fix that.

For a supplementary display or with console it's an absolute beast though.

VA sucks though. Honestly compared to OLED, everything sucks except MiniLED which too new to be comparable due to price. OLED has enough **** to prevent burn-in that it no longer worries me. I've spent hours and hours playing NHL with the same scoreboard plastered on the screen and it still has zero retention. I run the pixel refresher once a week or so before I go to bed. Works great.

I went looking for differences between the cx and c1 and its just webos versin and the game optimizer menu screen which is basically pc mode. You could probably save a ton by getting the cx if you were going oled route.

I watched the video and it crushes everything pretty much except for peak brightness cause of the ABL. I use my cx for everyday browsing and it works fine. I never use a full screen browser anyhow so ABL only really bothers me when I am reading a long article on a white page and it randomly kicks in early.

For me its still the superior picture quality display. I dont think I will ever go back to LCD.

Even miniLED shows its shortcomings to OLED. In deep black areas you can still see the dimming zones, although greatly reduced, but its noticeable.

If LG made a 32 inch version of the cx/c1 tvs and not that design focused version they have out for 3k bucks they would sell a ton. Price it at 1500 bucks(cx/c1 48 price) and it will sell like hot cakes.
