New Monitor

55 refurb going for 999 at my microcenter.

On another note I was mulling over their refurbed 65cx to replace the 65 c7 I have in the living room. Moving that to the bedroom so the PS5 can be on HDMI 2.1 on the CX.

Does anyone know what the “Instant game Response” option is on the CX55?

If I enable it, a dialogue box pops up telling me it’s launched, every time I start a game, but it causes the screen to flash, and trying to alt-tab to get to it, or just running the cursor up to X out of the box doesn’t work.

What little I can find suggests it’s tied to gsync, but it doesn’t mention gsync under the TVs menu and game play is super smooth with it disabled.

Should I keep picking at this or just disable it and be happy?

Thanks gents

Instant game response is the monitor detecting a game is started and sets the monitor basically to "gaming mode" for the fastest response times possible. Let it do its thing and leave it on. You cant close it within windows because its a monitor setting... to close it you would need the LG remote.

That explains it…I should have guessed that, I have to figure out what’s causing the flicker though. As soon as that pops up the screen cuts to black and back about every 3-5 seconds. It did stop on it’s own once, but every other time it keeps going.

edit:

If anyone else runs into this on an LG OLED, disabling, then re-enabling the instant game response and HDR did the trick. No more black screen during games launching.

Why? Don't know, but I stumbled across a Reddit thread that mentioned it and tried it.
