Is the Guide Plus still up and working?

Works Today!

Works Today!

Thanks to the efforts of all...I think this is the result of complaining and mailing and calling from all the people. Today the guide updates are working!

Or maybe "Mark" got back from vacation.

Try now....

Harry

Yep. We're back in business. Great work everyone -- and especially the server admin that let us back in.

But I'm still concerned about the official status of this software. I think we would all feel better if we could sort out who really owns it and what plans they have. If they want it (and us) to go away, we could all be made happy if they'd surrender it to public domain or something.

Confirmed here as well... thank all of you who emailed and telephoned... It seems we can't tell exactly who got in - if anyone - or whether someone just got back from vacation. But I'll know where to come back next year for same time - same drama.

Not For Everyone

Not For Everyone

Glad to see that the GuidePlus is working for some of you, but it is not working for everyone. I am still getting the same messages as before.

Nope, it's not happening. Even tried to do a repair install.

Probably right

You are probably right about "Mark." It's still frustrating that we don't know how or why it started working again. No doubt we'll be back here again in a few months and we still won't know who to call or email or even who owns the system.

I had to uninstall, reinstall, reset registry per post #48 on page 2 of this thread before I could get mine to work. (Probably because I had messed with the registry so much, then just left it)

Thanks everyone!

Oh yeah.... Welcome back to work "Mark"!:p

My Guide Plus+ is also now downloading and working again. Thank you Mark, TV Guide, Rovi, gods of the internet, whomever, thank you!

Mine is working too, but, the channel line up #'s are wrong! Even with the box not checked, it presented me with two channels and asked what's on those two channels and all 3 options were wrong! :mad: I also have no listings at all for all major networks! :mad: No ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, PBS, etc., all grayed out! Many channel #'s are also wrong.

I tried again this time with the box checked "Le me choose channel line up again", this time it asked me what channel shows the "Discovery Kids Channel" , 100 or not available, so I chose 100 since that is correct. And now in addition to all networks gone, channels 100-200 are missing! :nuts: :mad:

Anyone that has got it working, is in the USA and happens to be on Cox cable, can you please post your zip code? Maybe that will work for me. I tried several local zip codes here and all have the same problem. (Baton Rouge, LA).

Can someone please also post your Registry values from this area:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Gemstar\ETV\URL]
"LAST DOWNLOAD"="200912221040"
"URL"="http://144.198.100.134/gtidl/gdnget2.asp"
"DATAVER"=dword:00000002
"recent"="http://144.198.100.134/gtidl/gdnget2.asp"
"1"="http://144.198.100.134/gtidl/gdnget2.asp"

Thanks.

I just noticed something; for the first time in years, the "GUIDE PLUS+(TM) System Update Wizard - ATI" link is working. This should be under Start > Programs > GUIDE PLUS+(TM). It downloaded either a patch or a newer version, but it says I have to reboot and I can't do that right now.

For the past few years trying that resulted in "error downloading patch". I'm now wondering if I didn't trash what little functionality I had left by it maybe installing that really bad version of CMC or maybe Titan. :confused: I'll know soon.

So much for that! :cry: I restarted and this BS popped up when my Desktop loaded:

"Cannot update the GUIDE PLUS+(TM) System!
Please update the ATI MMC to latest version and then run the GUIDE PLUS+(TM) System Update Wizard again."

And I can't use a later MMC version because they all suck after v9.06! :mad: And here's what's really stupid: another reason why I can't use a latter MMC version is because after a certain version they don't work with Gemstar! :nuts: :nuts: They'll try and tie your hands any chance they get.

Disregard, that won't work. :mad: :mad:

Hi Clint,
Your reg values look like mine, except:
URL = http://www.gemstarguide.com/gdndl/gdnget.asp
Ok thanks. ;)

I know that seems to be a dead domain. But that's my URL setting.
That URL is "more interesting" now. Previously it immediately or almost immediately showed the typical "The page cannot be displayed", but today it's taking a long time and acting as though there is "some data" of some kind at it. Same thing with http://www.gemstarguide.com and http://152.101.67.132/ (to which it resolves).

Also, it might be worth doing a full channel scan again in MMC. Might as well try it.
Yeah I tried that before I posted, didn't help. :(

I tried changing zip codes numerous times and the best I got was the channels in the 100's to at least populate the guide listings, but it like ~25 other channels (still including all major network affiliates) are gray with no data and show "No listing" across the grid.

For me, even though I can connect to the server now and get "downloads", it's the same as not being able to connect as before because there's so little data! Now this has happened many times before, but only with 3 channels showing the "No Listing", not the 25-30 that now have data missing.
