Intel 13th Gen CPU thread

13600K looks like a mid-range beast.

I’m trying to work out if upgrading to the 13700K from me 12700K will be worth it. I would like some more street cred.

Y'all recon that intel will do anything about the ILM on z790?

It is kind of stupid that companies are selling mounting frames that can drop the temp by 10+ degrees just because intel wanted so save a couple of bucks.

It's a strange issue. My Z690 TUF, for example, doesn't have any issues with bending. My temps are all within 4-6c of each other and low. Other people have 10c+ between cores which is just crazy and a sign of bending. I haven't bought a contact frame because of this.

I don't think Intel will change the ILM, but what I don't understand is why some boards (even some made in the same batch) seem to cause the bending issue while others don't.

I thought it may have something to do with the metal backplate I use, but I don't know for sure. Some of the issue is due to LGA1200 mounting kits being used on ASUS boards; that was a mistake as the mounting pressure was way off.

It would be cool if intel could stop penny-pinching and just use the dual lever ILM design though, this is a problem that they already have a solution in place for.

Maybe they are skimping because they are losing money?

Intel on Thursday posted its first loss in decades as sales of its processors for client PCs, and data centers dropped sharply in the second quarter because of what Intel calls "a rapid decline in economic activity" caused by inflation, geopolitical tensions, and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

Blows my mind I dont ever remember intel losing money ever...
