Are people giving it bad reviews because of the cpu requirement or because of those microtransactions that allows you to buy respec and fast travel items?

NVM, I can't read.

Has anyone tried it yet, and does it run ok on non-x3d cpus?

After trying out that mod, I can't recommend it in its current state. Game freezes with the only solution being alt-f4.

Yep, went to almost 100fps in the first camp area on a 4080 Super / 5800X. Apparently there's a game condition that causes everyone nearby to die (intended). That might help fps at least.
