Death Stranding

Final Directors Cut Trailer out. It’s a mashup of the entire game and some new content mixed in. If you haven’t played the original some of the bosses are shown in this trailer so you may want to skip it if you don’t want them spoiled.

I lost interest pretty quickly, does it ever become more than a delivery service?
Depends on how you play it. If you keep avoiding fights it remains a delivery service game with a tight storyline. If you like to fight then it can be a pretty good beat em up or shoot em up depending on how far in the game you are.

I mixed it up a little just like I do with sex. :bleh:

How far in did you get? Did you at least get through the Eastern region and make it to the Central region? The game is mainly about making deliveries, but the unfolding story is the star of the show. There's a bunch of new tools you unlock later on that makes deliveries more fun and creative, but it takes a while to get to them. The game is a slow starter and you need to stick with it to get to the interesting stuff.

I would say just focus on the story missions and hopefully that keeps your interest until the main delivery game play loop starts getting more fun? But if you're not even really digging the story and setting its probably just not your cup of tea.

I'm about to finish off A Plague Tale Innocence and then move on to this.

Any tips before I start? I think one tip was to wait until after 3 hours of gameplay before considering if the game is worthy of my time.

I think that's about all I would suggest. Maybe a bit more than 3 hours though, depending on how fast you play. I usually tell people to at least unlock the central region before deciding if its for them or not.

Other than that, what's best about the game IMO is simply the discovery of its game systems and how they work. That was always the most fun part of it for me. Just go in blind and explore everything about the menu systems. Its a surprisingly deep and addicting game.

Mega gay, don’t be gay, it needs more than a 3 hour courtesy bang. I gave it 5 hours before I gave her all.

Get into the story. Don’t let your first attempt at gameplay discourage you. The whole game will challenge you with complexity. Be patient and listen to what the game is telling you. It’s different than anything you ever played.

I would say it is therapeutic. And worth the boners.
Don’t play directors cut though since I saw the review and agree with most of what is said. It seems they made the game easy mode to drive extra sales.

also don't get pissed at the menus and take your time with them. if you use a controller, which I absolutely recommend, the UI makes use of those buttons in ways you can't imagine
