Black Myth: Wu Kong

Lol, journey to the west is a huge cultural landmark in non middle eastern Asia though, they don't really need the woke western market to have a huge success with this game, if only because non middle eastern Asians have long waited for something like this to exist.

Women account for almost half (45 Percent) of gamers in the United states today.
Those kinds of statistics are skewed as they include mobile games like candy crush.

Nothing wrong with mobile games but just pointing out that when people on PC gaming forums say 'gamers' (esp in Souls-like threads) it means something totally different when it comes to those kinds of public polls.

The playerbase ratio of a game like say Bloodborne would be a more interesting statistic to have.

Not saying that it's okay to be misogynistic, but on the topic of making games... it might be politically incorrect to say out loud, but lots of games are made almost exclusively for men. What % of players who completed Doom Eternal are women? 1%, if we're being generous? I'm sure some exist somewhere, and more power to them... but if we're being honest, that game was made for men.

Badly worded generalization. Yikes, man.

Geared towards, sure, but sod off with that "made exclusively for men" motif.

Sorry but the way you said it totally rattled my chains.

I agree that it sounds bad when you leave out the "almost" from my quote. Big difference between "made ALMOST exclusively for men" vs. "made EXCLUSIVELY for men".

Like I said, I'm sure there's some women out there who played through Doom Eternal. Of course nobody should be excluded from playing the game, and if women enjoyed it, that's great. But let's not kid ourselves about the % of players who are women. Some games are made ALMOST exclusively for men... and that's okay.

Yeah, sorry to jump down your throat. I'm in that tiny percent, but I also agree with you that the percent is tiny, especially in more what could be seen "hardcore" gaming circles. I've built my own PCs since the 90s and played counter strike for 22 years, and know all too well how few similar there are out there.

Let em rip!

First impressions are the RT modes don't really look worth it. While the non-RT could use some adjustments. The Shadows for instance have some seriously overly aggressive LOD distances even at maximum settings in non-RT.

So gave the ol bench a try.
-Ryzen 7 5800 X3D @ 3.4 Ghz
-Radeon RX6600
-32gb DDR4 3200mhz

Default recommended @ 1080p (High, FSR 67%, frame generation on, RT off) = 98fps avg.
I decided to crank it up to cinematic ( cinematic, FSR 65%, frame generation on, RT off)= 46fps avg
Tried ray tracing to see how much it kicks my PC's ass (cinematic, FSR 65%, frame generation on, RT very high) = 14fps avg
Then i dropped it down to High to see if it made any difference (high, FSR 65%, frame generation on, RT very high)= 17fps avg
Then i dropped RT to Med to see if that helped (high, FSR 65%, frame generation on, RT medium) = 32fps avg
Then i decided to turn off RT and turn off frame generation to see what i got (cinematic, FSR 65%, frame generation off, RT off) = 24fps avg
Finally trying default with frame gen off (high, FSR 67%, frame generation off, RT off) = 54 fps avg

I've been impressed by the number of women playing through Elden Ring on youtube, and kicking ass at it also!
Watching Sasha Grey go from getting her ass whopped by basic mobs to soloing DLC bosses has been awesome.

I'm sure part of it also is lack of representation in the space. I'm assuming that women seeing other women enjoying these games might encourage them to try it, even though in their eyes it's just a game for men (which it's not at all).

The more women in this space the better, though the backlash of this game is stupid and doesn't help.
I'm tired of seeing these groups ruin games and TV shows and movies where all the main characters are women and the only men included are either evil or incompetent morons. Doctor Who anyone?

I noticed the same thing with Cyberpunk 2077. The non RT/PT rendering looks terrible because they put almost no effort into making good screenspace reflections.
Yeah SS reflections have some rendering bugs and aren't accurate, but done correctly they look great and perform really well.

EDIT: Here's a screenshot from Killing Floor 2 using screenspace reflections.

Looks great, not perfect. Raytracing would be more accurate but it wouldn't look that much better and would probably cost 50-100fps.

Hhhmmmm if you look at the exe for the benchmark tool.... suggests it's using the intial release of UE 5.0. So that might explain why something things do not look as great as they could with newer UE5.x versions without all of nVidias extras.
