Black Mesa v1.0

Meh blue shift is the only bad half life game and a fair way below the others.

I actually liked Blue Shift the best of all the original HL games.

For some reason original HL didn't really resonate with me. Everyone has always raved about it, but I just didn't enjoy it that much.

I remember being blown away by the upgraded graphics.

Why did you like it so much? I can't remember anything new or interesting about it. I think the pacing was a little off but it's been a while.

I did like Blue Shift, for what it was. It's short, focused, and good quality. Not very innovative though, not pushing any boundaries. Opposing Force was bombastic and had all kinds of new concepts and crap, super fun but almost broken and included a wide range of quality elements... typical of alot of PC gaming of the time.

Started punching through it and man this is really a great remake. I am loving it a lot. Got stuck on a door and forgot that you can crawl through it. Haha. Old school games were dope.

The music when you put on the hazard suit was phenomenal. And they definitely captured the feel of the original where everyone looks the same in the labs. Hit unforeseen consequences. Will pound this once I am done with the Hitman games.

Dope.

I finished Half-Life Alyx so thought I would give this a try (picked it up during the summer sale). Wow! I thought I would play a bit and put it away thinking it was a cute throwback, but it is fantastic. I really wish more games were like this - everyone is into open-world **** these days, but there is something nice about the Half-Life / F.E.A.R. type games from back in the day. Nobody makes games like that anymore.

Time to play HL2 Update it sounds like.

I have actually beat Black Mesa several month ago, and trying to go through HL2 now. It feels dated compared to Black Mesa visually and gameplay wise, Black Mesa is just epic on so many levels.

Are you playing the original or HL2 Update that uses the newer lighting, assets and patches?

HL2 was definitely a good game especially for the time it came out. But yeah it was always more about showcasing Valve's "Source" engine, than being a great game like the original was.

Not to mention it did have a hard act to follow. HL1 was so ground breaking.

I prefer HL1 as well, but I always loved the atmosphere of the world in HL2. To me, that still shines now.

Yeah, but that was just due to the better tech of the Source engine allowing them to be more detailed with the game's atmosphere.

I also love the dystopian world of HL2. They did a nice job creating a cool and original sci-fi world.

I loved Half Life 1, and after getting used to the change in Half Life 2, i came to love that one just as much. I would even suggest that HL2 Ep1 and 2 were better than both the originals.
