2018 Audi S3

Virtual cockpit was a must for me, I love it. It's pretty customizable, and love the nav on it, even if I still use Waze on Android Auto on the other screen. Now if I could get a Waze display there, that would be amazing.

My criteria when shopping was:

Any color but black
Virtual cockpit
7 speed DSG

Basically only the 2018 S3 was in my price range and met my criteria.

Id definitely put that virtual cockpit in a must haves category.

There is a BMW retrofit for a digital cluster I could get but its nowhere near as good as Audis implementation.

Checked in for service this morning, was a nicer experience than at the Chevy dealer by far.

Loaner is nicer too, got an A4.

Not Quattro, but still a nice driving car, comfy seats.

Good luck! Hope your service goes better than mine did. I ended up just taking it back and fixing it at home, even under warranty. :p

How much HP does that bad boy have?

You're making me want to get one of these. I think I'm going to have to start going into the office again in a few months, and there's no way in hell I'm trying to park my new Ram in a parking deck. If that happens, it may be time to pick up a DD. Granted these are a bit more money that I would want to spend on said DD, but they're so sexy!

Audi claims 292hp. Not sure how accurate that is, it's a little beast. People have posted dyno graphs showing the car making more than that to the wheels stock.

I showed my wife launch control on Friday night. She hated it

She also didn't expect it so that probably didn't help :p

And that article is on the 6 speed DSG, it's even better with the 7 speed!

edit: They mention the steering feeling light, on my S3 I was driving it in Dynamic mode and the steering felt really heavy, got tiring on the trip to and from Houston this weekend. I actually switched it to Comfort which lightened it up significantly, because it was just TOO heavy.

Manic is absolutely the word I'd use to describe it.

The S3 sounds significantly different from the 7-R I have. Mine is like the article, light and artificial feeling. It turns in good and is sharp, but no feel and fake.

Does it have a so-called overboost type feature?
I know some cars have it where for a short burst the turbo will up the boost for more powers.

I also tend to think turbocharged motors (usually from the german variety) are underrated by the manufacturer. (Maybe its a way to cheat emissions or avoid tariffs/limitations or something...dunno)

I don't think it does, but I don't know everything about it yet.

Weird day today. Started the morning getting denied in arbitration for my lemon Colorado, then got paid the money owed to me from a supplier, pretty good chunk of change, bought an Epilog laser at lunch, then on the way home broke my S3's oil pan...

Was leaving work, there was an F150 in the left lane, right lane was clear. Pulled out into the right lane, and as I was pulling out the truck pulled into my lane, no blinker, bailed out into the grass and scraped my oil pan and washer reservoir on the concrete. Got replacement parts and a skidplate coming in... Stupid plastic oil pan.

Ouch, that sucks. :(

I've never understood why people don't understand the simple concept of pulling into the 1st lane.

The F150 was coming down the frontage road, not turning with me. Dude had to have seen me pull out, unless he was screwing off on his phone or something.
