Before upgrading to Windows 10...read!

Well if you count being arrested and having to waste time, money, and your good reputation going to court as "slightly inconvenienced" then good on you.

I'm sorry, but it is absurd to think that it would even make it to court. I've seen what happens when computers/hard drives get ceased, thanks.

Do you think the local authorities or FBI are automatically dumb when it comes to technology?

My understanding of it is if your connection is not secured, they may be more understanding that it wasn't you and may not make a big deal of it when they approach you. But if illegal activity is detected on a secured connection, you'll have some explaining to do.:bleh:

Also, maybe tone down the attitude?

I am going to go ahead and unsubscribe from this topic and move on. As I've already said, this privacy thing really isn't worth arguing, and here I am getting myself caught up in it again.

I truthfully respect the opposing point of views, but I will never agree, especially since this topic is just about singling out MS and Windows when you have other big players that have already perfected equally "malicious" practices....

I will read your replies though, so enjoy the last word :P

OK.

And can't speak for anyone else, but I am certainly not just singling out MS on the privacy concern matters. I have heard that mentioned a few times here and not sure where that assumption stems from.

We are specifically discussing Windows in this particular thread. Doesn't mean I would treat anything else any differently. I have privacy concerns with everything that I use, and act accordingly.

People have been heavily fined and threatened with jail time for sharing copyrighted material. If someone jacks your WiFi and downloads with your IP attached you will be on the hook and law enforcement won't give a damn how or why it happened.

Wi-fi sense privacy concern is kinda overblown. People need to know where you live and actually be within range to use it. I don't advertise my address.

That talk was excellent. I'm going to pass it on to some family members.

Noticed that the Telemetry updates have now been pushed as optional on Windows Server platform as well, for 2008 and 2012.

It's unfortunately that I have to now cherry pick patches, luckily there are only a handful of Windows servers left. At this rate, none soon.
