Top Gear - Discussion

Only one the previous three really had any true "car" experience (as far as what they did on the show) prior to the show and that was Jeremy. The others had careers in other areas.

That being said, it's a little early to say Matt is a bad choice.. It's an odd choice for sure since he's American, but I imagine they are trying to not have two shows and just have one which will also appeal to more American viewers. He does have a personality that TV viewers flock to so I can see the interest in trying it. It was also hinted that Sabine would not be (directly) joining Top Gear. However, we'll have to see if the Stig ever has hips. ;)

I dunno, Mat LeBlanc comes across as real boring any time I see him outside of acting in a comedy show where he has written lines

I will be interested to see how they make this work... I could see how they could make some interesting team challenges with this amount of hosts. However, I'm not sure how it will work when they are just "reviewing" cars.

It will also be interesting to see how they review cars (i.e. not just do weird automotive challenges). The previous hosts were not as detailed as some of these new ones will want to be...

For me, I'd be happy with just the following hosts: Chris Evans, Rory Reid and Chris Harris. I think for a TV show, those would make the most sense.

Agreed, though I do still think Sabine would make a great addition. I had no idea who Rory Reid was, but after watching a couple of his videos...first impression is that he seems like a great fit. From a presenter/entertainer standpoint, more so than Chris Harris.

Why the heck are there so many presenters? What is this? Fifth Gear?

Feels more like "After all the politically incorrect nonsense the last three presenters got up to, we're trying to be as politically correct as we can get now. We've got a black dude! We've got a woman! We've got someone of some other ethnic minority! We've got a hipster! See? We love EVERYONE!"

You are reading too much into it... The "black guy" did open auditions the producers held and was the 'one' selected out of everyone (which you know there were thousands). He's had his own internet show reviewing cars for quite a while, so it's not like they picked him because of his skin color.

Chris Harris, is obvious because of his internet popularity. Sabine has been on many previous Top Gear shows so she already has a relationship with the show.

I remember the "black dude" from that Hyundai review where Batman interrupted him.

I can't even stand to look at Chris Evans and his moronic oversized black rimmed glasses so I probably won't even be watching. I'll just wait for Clarkson's new show.

I can't wait for the new amazon show to come out!

I'll definitely check out the new top gear lineup, but I do so with low expectations.
