Official Navi2x/6x00 series thread

CP2077 said they are working to make RT work on amd cards. Whic is why they dont list amd cards for RT at all for now. Tells us that even when Nvidia says its just plain DXR it obviously isnt because RT works on nvidia at launch but will need a patch for amd.

Hmm what patch might that be? I suppose a DXR patch?

Probably working on rt and denoising optimizations considering the many hybrid abilities, imho. Godfall on the Pc suppose to offer raytracing but only for Amd, Nvidia later on. I don't think anything shady.

Get off my lawn...

No worries Gramps.

I agree Watchdogs is bleh. But this week have played through Metro, the new COD campaign was great, Crysis Remastered is good, but what blew me away the most was Quake 2 RTX. Finally able to play it properly with 3090, 2080ti was a slide show. The Global Illumination is amazing.

Looking forward to Cyberpunk and Atomic Hearts. I'm also interested in Riftbreaker which is an AMD sponsored title, hopefully effects work with Nv hardware.

Infact Godfall is a good first RT entry for AMD, light on the effects, and Riftbreaker will be a good second. These will showcase AMD's RT capabilities when coded for AMD hardware.

i think they are both marketing mostly .

and NV never follows the rules and i bet every game to date is not fully microsoft dxr compliant
NV always add a poison pill when they help a game dev

RTX is just nvidia gameworks 2.0

nope sorry

diablo 4 yes if i live that long

I meant for showcasing AMD sponsored RT effects. Godfall isn't my cup of tea but Riftbreaker looks pretty awesome. Is Diablo 4 meant to include RT?

Man reading reddit and a few other places those who got their 6800xts are getting 2.5ghz on a dime it seems... not bad for the reference.

Performance increases on World of Warcraft... There's a joke in here somewhere... :bleh:

WoW and ray tracing shadows is such a ****ing dumb idea, I mean seriously what a waste

I've got BFV so it would be nice to try that but only other game I might buy on PC is Dirt 5. Absolutely not interested in the rest TBH. Not my cup of tea.

Ghostrunner's RT's looks good... but the game looks awesome without as well.

Quick technical question:

If RDNA2 needs to do ray-tracing, will that render the CU's needed for RT exclusive to RT rendering and other rendertasks needs to be done in other non-RT running CU's?

Or can 1 CU do it all at the "same time"? (Since we're not there where it's all RT.)

tried Googling that, but haven't found a good answer.

their are dedicated ray tracing units, one per compute unit. 72 ray tracing units in the XT, and 60 and the non, 80 in the 6900. The compute unit won't stop what it is doing just for ray tracing

Anyone seen benches of Godfall with and without RT? I know the patch only came out 4 days ago but was wondering what the penalty was on the 6800's...

My MSI x570 motherboard has a BIOS update to allow SAM. Will this work even with a 3900x cpu or turning it on will do jack squat? Just preplanning and wondering in case a 6800xt does become available before a 3080 pops up.
