Nioh

Playing a bit more and got Attack Increase (Body) on my Axe, and have been levelling Body like a mofo. Feeling a lot less fragile now, and the attack increase is helping keep pace.

Have realized though that my Weapons and Armor levels are lagging dramatically, which is holding me back from being as tough as I should be. The reason is gold costs for Soul levelling account for the level difference between The beginning and and points (including + ranks.) When everything was level 150 and you're dealing with increments of +1 each time, it's relatively cheap. Now that I'm doing way of the Demon and getting drops 20 levels higher the costs are outrageous.

So, beware the downsides of skipping ahead if doing Soul Levelling. I'm actually backing up a bit to get some gear with more moderate level differences so that I can afford the upgrade and do this incrementally. (though advancing to the upper levels DID give me a ton of Amrita.)

Any kind of damage effect that scales with BODY is pretty awesome. I honestly think it might be the best weapon scaling effect because leveling up BODY also increases HP. For my playthrough I had Change to Attack (BODY) on both my main weapons and it was great to level up their attack and my HP at the same time. Comparatively, if you used Change to Attack (STRENGTH) thinking that would be better for a STR based weapon, it actually does not matter. Any Change to Attack effect will add the same damage boost when leveled. So with BODY you're getting the added HP which is great.

On the expensive Soul matching point, yeah I could see that was coming and is a big reason why I ended my Nioh 1 playthrough right there.

That, and it's very generous with the Samurai points at the same time.

In theory, my Axe has Strength as its primary, but I always seemed to get more Attack points with Stamina, which also reduced my load. Not sure what was up with that.

I was trying for Change to Attack (Stamina) since I already have it near-maxed to get good heavy armor, but reasoned that I'd eventually want much higher HP anyway, so good enough!

I decided to mention that so that you could keep it in mind for your Nioh2 playthrough... if soulmatching, stay on top of it or you'll eventually have issues.

Going into Nioh 2 with the lessons learned from Nioh 1 is definitely a blessing. I pity the fools who never played Nioh 1 and go straight to Nioh 2. Way more complexity and added features. I would not know WTF was going on if I did.

Stam is freaking King if you do anything with Heavy armor. I joined Todo as well for the increased health bonus with Stam and attack damage based on equipment weight. Was fun as hell walking around in full Tatenashi and still having mid tier agility. Let you face tank a lot of stuff up to a point and just laugh. 8-)

I do full tatenashi + Kato. I LOVE the reduced damage while attacking (currently 16.6%). I tried jumping to Todo after getting used to it, figuring that the health bonus would be better, then noped myself right back. :)

Maybe if I was a better player and wasn't constantly getting hit while attacking! :D
