Nioh

Here's my two main weapons I've been working on:

Also, yeah I think my NG+ is bugged out. I somehow was given all regions unlocked from the start:

I wonder if that’s an Epic version bug? There shouldn’t be any difference in the core mechanics of the game, but….just a guess. It’s not a bad thing though…

I'm tempted to go straight to the Queen's Eye mission and see if I can beat it and unlock Way of the Demon.

Do it. What do you have to lose? :)

Edit: I’m speed running 2 for Dream of the Nioh right now, WAY underleveled and still making it. If I can, you certainly can

That's what I was doing in Nioh 2. Would just plow through with the least amount of missions needed cause once you got the next NG+ all your equipment would be obsolete anyways, unless you were really being careful with soulmatching etc etc.

After seeing this continually bumped I started a new Nioh char. :bleh: Currently flailing about on the frozen lady.

Just did it:

And appears that the correct amount of regions are shown this time for NG++. I am wondering if it had something to do with the fact I did 100% of the missions in Way of the Samurai, and somehow counted towards Way of the Strong? But that is not how its supposed to work. Must have been a bug.

Awesome, the more the merrier! I can't seem to put the game down. Going to keep messing around with it until I feel like there's nothing more I can get out of it. But I don't know when that will be lol.

Think I remember reading that if you did all the DLC in OG difficulty it let you skip Strong or something. DLC tuning in 1 was insane and kinda built around you being partially into Way of the Strong for even the Samurai difficulty of the DLC. So you played the DLC in hard mode it seems.

That would definitely explain it if true. I tried Googling this issue for a bit but couldn't find a single mention of it.

Either way its no biggie. If anything just gives me more freedom to pick and choose which missions I feel like doing next. But at the same rate, it kind of takes away the feeling of accomplishment in working my way through the next difficulty level. I could just move to Way of the Demon but I don't think I'm quite ready for it yet. I'm only level 220 and some of those missions are in the 400's.

[EDIT] Ha, well since reading your post suggesting its due to playing the DLC, it gave me a new thing to search for and I just found this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Nioh/comments/ap9z3u/mission_achievement_rate/

The first reply mentions you can skip way of the strong by doing 8 main missions of the DLC on way of the samurai. At least I know my game isn't broken or anything.

In way of the Strong make sure you do Return of the Gourd. Guaranteed drop of an accessory that reduces set requirements by one. Many more sets for you, or let you get higher ranks without the commitment.

Now I have 5 piece Tatenashi AND 4 Piece Obsidian (Weapons + a crappy foot piece that I need to replace with divine)

If I can find a decent rvenwing rifle or a set cannon then I'd have a third set for extra damage reduction

Edit: Just finished the Queens Eyes myself... easier than Return of the Gourd, that's for sure. :)

Meteor - we have to get you into Nioh 2 if you’re going to be addicted lol. It offers so much more than the first game. You’d be scratching that itch for a good long time lol.

One of the few flaws of my build is set requirement reduction doesn't really benefit me much, since I'm using the Hayabusa set but I don't focus on ninjutsu. I just like the way it looks. So between missing out on utilizing all the set bonuses, and the fact I'm a glass cannon its a high price to pay for looks. But I still love looking like a ninja but having a focus on onmyo.

Yeah I know. I figure there's no rush since I'm still having fun with Nioh 1, and still waiting for the price of Nioh 2 to come down a bit. I am going to exhaust all my fun with Nioh before moving on, and I absolutely plan (hope) to play something different before starting Nioh 2. I want a break from it so I can go in fresh with the sequel.

I have Horizon Zero Dawn on the back burner at the moment. I keep telling myself I will start my playthrough proper today, but I keep just firing up Nioh again and working on my build. Since opening up Way of the Demon last night, I went and started farming high level divine items to get my weapons and armor to level 165 and +10 and above. I just can't stop.

On your armor, you can have the smith refashion any piece to look like what you want. The ninja armors all have diminishing returns the further you progress. Grab Tatenashi/refashion/profit > or another set with good bonuses….

On the “Can’t stop” I so get it  It’s never ending though. Even if you 100% the game with one build, there are so many other combos that are also awesome, and need to be tried out ….. :bleh:

I am using Tatenashi refashioned to look like Armor of the Exceptional + the dragon helmet.

Unfortunately I did recently realize that and was so pissed that I didn't know that earlier. But decided since I already had my hayabusa set upgraded pretty high didn't really feel like starting over with a new set. However, I seem to be getting good high level equipment drops in Way of the Demon right now pretty regularly (like +10 to +13 stuff) so maybe it wouldn't take very long. The challenge would probably be having enough gold for the soul matching. I would have to find a good gold farming spot. Unless I just get some high level Tatenashi drops. Then just need to play the reforging game again.

Eh, I'm not sure how worth it that would be since I'm really not sure how much further I want to take this game. Will have to think about it.

I know! This game is like crack, full stop. I may get to the point where I need to intervene and just uninstall it from my PC.

  “I can stop whenever I want to”

I told ya the game will hook you. I STILL compare everything to the Nioh games.

It’s hard

I have a lot of the blacksmith points banked that I can use for soul matching. Currently saving gold for reforges. The nice thing about selling the crap armor (no point divines and lower) is that you get both gold AND those points.

You can swap out the sets one piece at a time. Building up to decent sets. That accessory + one Tatenashi = a 2 set. :) Downside of the really heavy armors is that you need a LOT of stamina

You were 100% right about this game, no denying that. Funniest part is it seemed to get more addicting once I hit NG+, which is something I have never seen before in any game ever. I think they really focused on making players want to keep playing.

Going to have to think on it. The Tatenashi set looks really good vs BREAK. But before I start this process of switching I'll probably want to evaluate all the other sets. Also, I don't believe I can craft Tatenashi. Guess I never got a smithing text for it so I would have to farm it. I believe its a pretty common set on revenants though.

Smithing text apparently CAN drop from Return of the Gourd if you get lucky, but I haven't seen it yet. The stuff is so available from revenants though it wasn't a big deal, and probably comes with 2-3 good mods already. Shouldn't take long to get the pieces... will take more effort to reforge them to get the mods you're looking for.

There are some other sets that are interesting. Obsidian, Greater Good and Warrior of the East all had things going for them. As I said though, I'm a sucker for durability.

Before I even bother doing that, I need t make a final decision on if I am going to try to continue playing NG+ and NG++. There isn't much point to go through the armor set switching process if ultimately I am going to be done with the game.

Also I really, really want to pull myself away from Nioh soon. I have a roadmap of gaming in my mind that all has lead up to and be finished by the time Elden Ring releases in late Feb so I can start it on day 1 with no distraction. I want to get Horizon Zero Dawn completed before then.

Think I might just call Nioh a day right where I am now, and get back to HZD. If I finish it with plenty of time before Elden Ring (most likely), I will pick up Nioh for a bit more fun before Elden Ring. Sounds like I should have plenty of time, but my life tends to get pretty hectic and I go some weeks without being able to game much. I've been blessed with some extra free time lately, but that wont last going into the holiday season.

Just an opinion Meteor - if you dump Nioh 1 now, in all honesty you really aren’t missing much other than the satisfaction of putting together new builds.

Nioh 2 offers more in later difficulties, but this one - it’s good, but not really worth the time if you’re super busy, and you usually are.

Speaking HZD from experience, I think you’ll be glad you moved on once you begin seeing the story (and everything else) that game offers

And 2022 will be full up just with Elden Ring and Nioh 2.

Just a couple of honest pennies worth of thoughts from a friend.
