New "Top Gear" airs

I think those silly "challenges" are what made the show awesome. Like someone else mentioned, if i want cold hard facts on a vehicle il look it up on the web, or go to some other show that does nothing but that.

Top Gear is infamous for there crazy antics and challenges, and its what made the show awesome cause no one else was doing a lot of the things they were!

Agree 100%

The visits to the USA, Polar Challenge, Patagonia, Supercars in Italy, Motorcycles in India, and the attemps to get across the lake with the Toybota/sail at/vwboat are fantastic entertainment.

Those Supra raises a great point, I think they ARE overdoing it.

It looks like a car show filmed by Michael Bay, not in a good way.
I mean, they even put overlay images of a piston blueprint right in the middle
of a track shot. That, and the shaky cam, is too much.

Otherwise, it's a great show.

Just watched the first episode, and it's not bad at all. I don't really care for Chris, but I think he'll get better. I used to hate Rutledge Wood on the US series, but now he's one of my favorites on TG USA.

I'm finishing up the first new episode right now, it's not as bad as it's being made out to be. Matt Le Blanc is probably the best host, Chris Evans is just stiff, he'll loosen up. He sure is an ugly mofo though. I thought the episode was fine, though I have no idea why they added an offroad section to the Reasonably Priced car section, nor why they ditched the "Reasonably Priced Car" for a Mini...

I wondered how the UK audience would react to Matt being on the show, but thus far it appears that most liked him. I think he saved that episode during the car segments, but he seemed a bit out of place in the live studio segment. That should get better with time though. I think if Chris calms down a bit, and stops yelling they'll do just fine.

Starting to watch the new episode now.... so far? dont like Chris's voice :bleh:

Edit: Okay i finished the full episode about an hour or so ago, had to start and stop it a few times. Anyways, it was....... alright. Im not sure i like Chris all that much , but maybe he will grow on me, we shall see. Matt on the other hand, i dont mind him, he's alright and bugged me far far less than Chris! I will continue to watch the series and see how it develops.

This one was better than the last for sure. Noticed they let Matt do more of the live stuff instead of Chris this time around too.

Finally got a chance to watch the first two episodes, and it wasn't too bad. They have the exact same show format, just different people presenting. They still aren't too fluid yet on the set, but it's not bad. Still a lot of staged stuff which I had hoped they would stop, but it's all there.

What I really liked was the TopGear Extra Gear 30 minute show. The format is great and I like the hosts.

Just watched second ep. It's alright. I think as the new cast settles in, and get to know each other better, the chemistry will be less forced and more natural, and should be a good watch.

I finally got around to catching up on the series and... I honestly think it's fine.

Chris is not net new to me, having seen him on other shows and on Top Gear itself previously (he's the one who lent his California to May to drive).

Matt is fun. I'd prefer to see him doing more talking than Chris honestly, but I guess they'll figure out a dynamic.

Sabine is fine but not sure what her role is, really. She's doing all the stuff the Stig was doing before and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Chris Harris is brilliant as per usual. Loved his segment. You can tell he does this for a living and loves cars.

I miss the old reasonably priced car segment. The new one seems... forced almost :( And I agree with comments about the hosts not picking their cars. I am pretty sure the other guys didn't either behind the scenes, but I prefered the nature of their challenges. The new ones seem more sterile :(

Eddie Jordan... I love the guy but no idea why he's on the show.

There is a sense of too many cooks spoiling the show right now. I reckon Harris, Evans, LeBlanc can carry it without having others. They have all had good segments this season. Sabine... I dunno. I guess if she was full time Stig maybe? But then the Stig is part of the show so that would be terrible.

Overall, it's better than I thought it would be. BUT. It is no where near what the trio who moved on produced weekly.

It's just another show, I guess, and I'm ok with that at the moment.

Honestly, I think they liked what Tanner Foust brought to the US Top Gear and decided to bring Sabine in for that kind of role.

The two new guys they introduced on this episode? I have no idea why they're there.

Do you maybe mean Tanner Foust? ;)

Yeah  I was reading about The Revenant on Wikipedia, my brain decided to combine two names :p

edit: Oh and Tanner Glass is a hockey player... Not a very good one, but still

But Tanner is one of the guys, and Harris is a good enough driver (as seems to be Matt) that they can get decent performance out of vehicles.

Sabine is awesome, but she's not going to be able to gel with the back and forth. Harris probably can play the straight man to Evans and Leblanc from what has been seen thus far.

Agreed, the 2 new guys, I know 1, don't know the other, have no clue why they keep bringing new people in. Too many people makes it very cluttered and busy and we are still learning about the chaps from the first episodes.

The chap in the Ford RS seemed decent enough, but Sabine and Eddie aren't really needed.

Do you maybe mean Tanner Foust? ;)

I'll start on this soon bad damn are the ratings plummeting

How does that compare to last season's viewership with the original cast though? There's a drop over these first three episodes, certainly, but is the first episode artificially inflated because people were morbidly curious about the new cast?

A quick look at the previous two seasons shows a consistent 6 million plus, some with over 7 millions viewers.
