NEW DRIVERS 7.73 (6093) FOR ALL OS's

What OS are you running? I'm using XP.
Did you just install them without uinstalling the 6071's?

I always upgrade first, to test it.

I run XP Pro, retail 8500 64mb.

I had the omega plutoniums installed and just upgraded to the 6093's

checking over the INF's seeing if maybe it has some weird setting for the panels or something

haven't installed them yet, but I would have done a clean install as with every driver..

I'm not sure anymore though

anyone with no display tabs did install the drivers after cleaning the old?
anyone with just installing them over the 6071 who has these tabs missing?

cool , thanx for the heads up, KillerQ

... wow these files are puny .. the Windows XP and 2K drivers are each only 3.31 MB .... and the NT4 drivers are 2.33 MB

I did a perfect clean install of the 6093's..have no tabs at all for the important stuff.

Additionaly, Tweakers like Radeonator..and even the Rage3D tweaker..wont recognize my card.

Unituner..wont let me adjust gamma. And no games will let me adjust the game gamma either. ( All games are very dark for me now)

On a good note. I got about a 400 mark increase in 3D Mark 2001SE. And Jedi Knight Outcast is running about 15% faster.
Max Payne...slightly faster.

These drivers would be awesome. If I had damn tabs for anything...and the ability to change gamma to avoid the darkened games.

I installed using update drivers on ME from 9030 and lost d3d and opengl tabs as well.

havnt tried them in Win2k yet..Kinda use ME to test thing before I use. heh ;)

From what I have noticed these drivers are CORE sections only, not the complete driver set. I would suggest installing the 6071's, or the Omega Plutoniums and then upgrading through device manager to the 6093's. That is what I did, and Rage3D Tweak, along with the tabs, function.

cool, that's a signficant 3DMark increase :) ... and, every single test went higher with these new drivers (except for the Pixel Shader test)

......... on another note.. James Crivellone , what you mean exacly by "upgrade" ... ie.: do you install over the old drivers without uninstalling them first .... or do you uninstall, then install the new drivers .... or do you do a complete clean install (deleting the old ATI files, clearing the old ATI registry entries , etc.) ... ? (just curious)..

I just went into device manager, upgrade driver, and installed the 6093's without doing anything to the current 6071 installation.

To also add note:

In the Registry for the settings where we can manualy adjust the cards properties....etc.

There are ALOT of new registry settingas in there...and I mean ALOT!

Such settins like:

Catalyst_version
Object_Saturation
LastConnectedObject
TVR200Flags
MSsniffercode

And alot more..I have no clue what do.

This could be why non f my tweakers are working.

Ill just be happy if I can get my gamma to work atleast.

From what Ive seen in the registry and games. These drivers do screw around with the gamma....possibly fixing what was broken all this time. but with no Tabs..and a Fleet of new Registry settings...I have no clue how to adjust my gamma now.

These are just the core files as said above. I thought that drivers with names like 7.7X were supplied to manufacturers of Powered by ATI cards but I may well have misread this somewhere else on the forum.

Anyhow to get them working fully I just copied the driver files for XP in these new drivers into the drivers location in the omega/plutonium xk1.0.71b's and yipee get all the new driver bits but all the tab functionaloty and tweaks from omega and plutonium.

Here are some preliminary benches:

Unreal Tournament (Loki OpenGL) [1280*1024*32 high settings, detailed textures, ansio at 16]......113fps was 103fps with the omega/plutxk1.0.71b's.

Quake 3 Arena [1280*1024*32, high settings, ansio at 16].......154fps was 122fps with the omega/plutxk1.0.71b's.

GLExcess 1.1a [1024*768*32].......6353points on benching just before installing these drivers I got 6090 with the omega/plutxk1.0.71b's.

Now I'll have to test 3DMark2001SE...

3DMark2001SE [1024*768*32].......8465points previously with the omega/plutxk1.0.71b's it was 8293points(8438 overclocked).

These drivers mess up the hardware acceleration in PowerDVD 4.0
I still have no subtitles, and now I also have lots of flickering green dots. When I use software acceleration all is fine.

That said, I got a minor increase in 3Dmark 2001 (20 points), and I'm going to run som openGL benchmarks now

There seems to no Q about it:ATI´s on to something here.Everone gets higher scores.Something to wait for, unless I try James Crivellones version.

The following benches were run under my current system, which is:

AthlonXP 1800+ running at 1.61ghz (140mhz FSB)
256MB Crucial PC2100 @ 140mhz CAS2
128MB ATi Radeon 8500LE @ 275/275 (running non LE BIOS)
on a Soyo K7V Dragon+ (KT266A)

The benches were run on my current install of Windows XP, which was installed on April 19th. Upon uninstalling the 6071's and installing the 6093's I was presented with no ATi display tabs in the advanced properties, and lots of problems getting my primary monitor to switch resolutions and refresh rates. I don't attribute these problems to the new drivers, they are probably a result of a fubarred r3dtweak install I had on the machine a month ago and havent managed to get rid of. I plan on reformatting today and hopefully things will be peachy again.

You really should do the before and after tests with the same conditions. Its obvious that in your second test you've overclocked the video card, as fillrate, high polygon count, vertex shader, and point sprite scores increased even though they have almost nothing to do with drivers.

Heck, your multitexture fillrate in the second test is more than the card can even theoretically do at 275 MHz, and you're first test shows scores typical of 275 MHz cards.

ok I edited the damn news post again, heh, I think it is valid for making a working driver set. Could somebody please verify

I did run some OpenGL benchmarks and got a decent increase in both Aquamark ( 46.3 vs. 40.2) and GLexess (about 200 points higher)
