NEW DRIVERS 7.73 (6093) FOR ALL OS's

my result

my result

Upgraded, and upon first boot direct3d apps wouldnt run properly. After another rebootand a really long start up time, all direct3d apps seem to run fine(games and 3dmark).

3dmark was almost exactly the same, so I have a sneaking suspicion Windows xp restored the 6071 drivers when the 6093 werent working the first time(hence long start up).

Although it still shows I have 6093 installed in the control panel.

I installed mostly for the gamma fix, and it still seems to be there, (brighter at default gamma)

hey guys !

Maybe stupid question but everyone here is talking about the tabs and how you can hold on to them in Windows XP, but are there like me other windows 98 users with which this does NOT work.
I tried updating the driver over my existing 9021 driver but the tabs are gone !!!

Anyone ?!!?!?!?!? know how to get the tabs to stay under 98 ?!

Lemme know pls !

no Actually XP65 is for the Hammer line not the Itanium line ;)

The Itanium line has no life left in it heh ATi knows that...they are support Intels standard CPUs and doing nicey nice with Intel for now but when they see that AMD's plan is to make all people use x86-64 bit hybrid processors that increase the data bus and allow for faster apps through 64bit compiling they will pull back more of that support

Funny thing is someone once said that AMD is but a hack company due to the fact that they have to use intels SSE technology under license

now the funny thing is Intel isnt just using their technology now they are going to be paying to use their designs whats that tell you ;)

sounds like turnabout to me

Let's not start a ridiculous intel/amd flame war here lol...And although AMD has been making great strides in the desktop CPU arena, both Intel and AMD have a LOT of money coming from elsewhere in their fab business...AMD has a lot of the flash memory market, and Intel is just a HUGE chip giant for all kinds of chips.

Plus Intel owned about 20% of AMD in stocks...they just cut back on shares but continue to hold a big chunk because they believe AMD has room for growth lol...must be weird to hold shares in your competitor...but then again even if they kill you off you'll still own a good chunk of them...heh

im a w98 user.
no way to show tabs.
these are the best shitty drivers i ever seen.

I use win me.

Those drivers are great and to be honest i can live without the tabs. Obviously, new beta release will include 'em.

Maybe they will have another tab design with different options. I can't wait any longer.

Nice....

Nice....

Everything runs fine, using WinXP.

3dM2k1 = up 200+ points

GLExcess = also up 200 points

Morrowind up a wee bit (2-3 fps). Smooth indoors (>30fps) but around 16-20 outdoors. Max outdoors is 30fps.

Can't wait to try these on GTA3...

There are some strange new settings in the last 9031 and 9039 opengl drivers:

enableTexCachePartition (only in 9039)

allowEarlyZ

enablePostCompilationOptimizer

enableASICSpecificOptimizer

enableGenericOptimizer

enableFSOptimizer

And a new D3D setting in 9039 drivers:

TextureRatioWorkaround

DisableCylindricalWrap = ?????????????????

What's are this very strange settings?

Bye! ;)

I posted it before and i'll post it again. THIS IS FOR EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING FOG PROBLEMS IN GTA 3. Enale TABLE FOG using a tweaker and it whould be fixed.

havent tested 3dmark2k1SE yet...but RTCW seems faster...but still a bit dark... I fifgured out my card can only hold a 301/288 speed after like 30 mins of RTCW...which means time for sum card coolers and some ramsinks and exhaust fans..maybe a crystal orb 2...the memory is stable @ 306/306 but ater about 30 mins the textures get all funky...and i have to lower it to 301/288 which also means MORE COOLING!!! but @295/295 with 6071's i get 6249 3dmarks... it runs 3dmark fine @ 308/308 stock cooling.

My Rig:

Duron 1Ghz AHHAA Crappy stepping
ECS K7S5A
384MB PC-133 2-2-2-5
ATi Radeon 8500 64mb Retail
NOT AMD APPROVED Power Supply

How I did it was to get th latest omega drivers. When installing them it will extract the drivers to a folder. When this has finished but before you click next to load the ati setup program copy the new driver files over the ones just extracted. Then carry on the installation and you should keep all the tabs.

I did actually manage to get the tabs to appear before though by running the ati island demos. Not sure why but suddenly vsync turned on. I didnt check till I had installed the modified omega drivers (but not rebooted) and the control panals had appeared. I think the demos may have triggered them to appear somehow.

Installed the Beta driver rebooted then installed the 9031's over them without replacing any newer files and everything seems to work. A small improvement in speed in both D3D and GL. I think D3D looks a bit better to. I'm using a Radeon 32DDR (7200).

Interesting note in the install file:

"RADEON RV250 SECONDARY" = ati2mtag_RV250, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_496E

Could this possibly mean ATI is still experimenting with a 2 Chip card?

Update:
The OpenGL support sucks, RTCW starts running slow after a few minutes and some others too. Going back to the 3140 SoF2 fix.

Gave the OpenGL module another try and everything seems to be working. For some strange reason things started slowing down when I first tried it but everything is smooth and fast. The screen adjustments finally work to. Couldn't adjust screen size/position with last two release drivers but now I can.

I'm using Windows 98se and to keep my display tabs all I did was install the new beta drivers manually, I didn't run setup but you should be able to do it that way to. Then after the system rebooted I ran the setup for the 9031 drivers and didn't replace any newer files when asked.

I also added a registry option that helps stabilize the system sometimes because my D3D lockups randomly and System Shock2 after a few minutes. Haven't tested Shock yet but played RTCW online for about 4 hours strait and it run extremely smooth and fast.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ATI\Global\System]
"ReqAGPRate"=dword:00000001

This should tell the drivers to use the AGP Rate returned buy the system BIOS. I think the default is to use a preset timing scheme and this overrides it. NVIDIA cards have the same option and it helps them too.

Does anyone know what a CMask is? There seems to be a few registry entries for CMask... the entries are very similar to the current ZMask registry entries...

BTW, is it just me, or is the D3D trilinear filtering (mipmap blending) much, much better with the new 6093 drivers?

Am I the only one having problems with Quake2 games having broken lighting effects over the last few Official driver releases and this beta? I still play Quake2 and Heretic II and as usual ATI screwed something up in these games. It's usually the first thing I check with new drivers but I didn't this time. Always a mixed bag with drivers, I haven't seen a good compatible set yet.

flame war? someone made the comment about AMDlicensing Intels SSE Technology for the XP so I mentioned that the next foray that Intel does into the 64bit area will be based off of AMD's x86-64Bit Platform.

Thats why I said Turnabout is fair play

Re:

Did these new drivers clear up any one's problems w/ the infinite loop with games like Dungeon Siege or Jedi Knight 2?

I enabled it using Rage3D Tweak and I still got bad fog:( .

Damn, every time i upgrade, 3dMark takes a nosedive...
Down about 900 points.
Doesn´t matter tho..
What matters is SoF2 still has issues.
Haven´t seen any noticeable increase in 3D performance, though 2D AA seems nicer (cleartype in winxp isn´t washed out anymore)
DVD performance is still top-notch
I think the 8500 doesn´t have much more to offer in terms of driver development.
Looking forward to the R300 launch.
