Nero Audio Encoder

Nero Audio Encoder

Warning, if you upgrade to Nero 6, it installs a new Audio Encoder that causes this exact same issue. You will have to remove it from the Registry and then prevent Nero from installing the encoder again.

I have too problems with Nero 6. Some utilities like BackitUp cause error in Neroerr.dll when you close them and ATI MMC 8.5 is giving me an error regarding conexc.dll. I would like to use Nero 6 but I need to stop these errors. What audio codec I need to remove? All Nero codecs are installed within C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead directory so I'm not sure how they can interfere with MMC 8.5 player.

Thanks for this thread...I've found the problem...but how do i get rid of a blank filter entry?

Thanks for this thread...I've found the problem...but how do i get rid of a blank filter entry?

Used jv 16 1.4 to clean up registry and problem still persists...any other suggestions?

Or if someone can tell me what key to go look for I'll pull it by hand...I just can't seem to find it anywhere.

Well
you have 2 Blank Codecs.

Try this to find out if its an Audio Codec, Goto the DEvice Manager and DISABLE your Sound Card then Start MMC is it Starts Up then its an audio Codec Causeing the problem so that will marrow it down.

Trust me I Have had this problem since MMC 8.xx Has been out and i finally solved it and mow im happy as a clam, sorta speak.

It's also possible to use the graph editor (graphedt.exe - you can grab it at doom9.org), in order to view all the codecs and see where they are. You can then run "regsvr32 /u codecname" to unregister it.

Finally gave up and went with a system restore point...looks like it worked but it's still irritatiing. Thanks everyone.

D-Oh!

D-Oh!

Damn!

Just as I was about to find what was crashing my TV App... It starts flawlessly!

I mean... It crashed everytime! No way to make it work. Had to use Showshifter until the trial ended...

... just like a weird DirectX 7 bug I had recently. The D3D 7 calls were not working (as weren't most of my games) and suddenly, when I was about to give up and format (no good Sys restore points available), I did one final test just for fun and... everything was fine!?!?!

Now if the Rage3D Tweak coder would just add this log feature with a simple button we could all have a good troubleshooter here!

Now, of course, ATI would not let that too usefull option easily available. They would then have to create a realistic "Known Issues" web pages and they would see their customers run away from MMC much too fast. Shame shame shame.

In any case, one GOOD point for ShowShifter over ATI's MMCrap: It always loads. It finds ways around problems instead of crashing over them. I may even consider eventually buying it.

I don't think I did this right but when I had hyperthreading on (after I restalled everything from scratch) I had tv-on-demand and when I went back in time I had NO PICTURE only sound and the pogress bar...then windows restarted. I looked at the errorlog.txt and got this:

Need Help

Need Help

I have no experience with editing my registry. I know how to get to the registry editor (run > regedit), but that's it. I tried winging it though and tried adding those registry values eddie mentioned. I'm not sure what was supposed to happen, but nothing did. There was no log file created on the c:\ drive.

If there is someone who could give me more of a step-by-step approach to fixing this problem, I would really appreciate it.

Also, on a side note. I have MMC 8.2 ... and I have seen mention of MMC 8.5, I have the ATI TV Wonder Pro card, and if an 8.5 is available could someone also please tell me where to get it.

I really just want to be able to use my TV Tuner card again. This is very frustrating. Thanks for any help you can offer.
