I GUESS WE DO ALL HAVE PHONES (Diablo Immortal)

For what it's worth...

I alpha/closed beta tested it on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 a fair bit (Australia was a testing grounds of sorts) and other than the obvious free to play trappings and mobile streamlining, I enjoyed it a lot more than I did Diablo 3. The gameplay was about as slick as you could expect from a mobile ARPG, the usage of D2 characters as npcs was nicely nostalgic and overall it does a better job of feeling like the sort of game that should have come after Diablo 2 in terms of scope and focus.

Skill customisation and gear wise, forget it. That's all so simplified there's virtually no real meaning to any of it. At times it felt a bit like a twin stick shooter due to how you aim skills while moving, but overall it's more about getting to spend more time in Sanctuary with familiar faces and doing short burst levels for shinies.

It's a solid Diablo 2.5 game IF the sequel/follow-on from Diablo 2 had to be a mobile game with very high production values, whereas Diablo 3, with its awful writing, bloated quests, cartoony look and plethora of busywork, always felt like a WoW spin-off cosplaying as a Diablo game to me.

it's already getting flak. Almost impossible to tie it to your battlenet-account. Other than that it's ok'ish so far. Nothing groundbreaking

The nature of Diablo Immortal's microtransactions isn't immediately apparent, but the red flags are big with this one.

If you're looking to pop demons and pick up some loot in Diablo Immortal(opens in new tab) for more than a few hours, you'll probably have to pay. NetEase and Blizzard's mobile-first and now PC-ported Diablo game is built to obfuscate how real money transactions can influence your character's strength, but the most dedicated players are probably going come to their conclusions soon, and it doesn't seem like they'll be positive.

A critical part of the Diablo series has always taken place after hitting max level, where you fight harder and harder monsters for increasingly better gear. That's why people still play the original games to this day—it's sort of the point. Diablo Immortal is the same, except now you can pay money to increase your chances to get powerful items, specifically out of its rifts.

So...paying money will increase your chances to get better loot...sounds like pay to win to me.

they call it "pay to progress", but yeah, of course it's absurdly pay to win. Sadly i'm not surprised, i was expecting this including the lootboxes....

Greedy mofos...it's almost as if they're trying to ruin their own franchise.

not only that, but the gems go up to five stars, and the chance of a free players getting one is something like 0.05 percent. Only paying players will get them, and very lucky free players. It also costs about 100 dollars for just under a garenteed 5 star gem. Apparently there is a pity system for every 50 bought you will 100% get one, but 100 dollars buys you 45...

Yeah the game has been in beta for a long time and the early players did not like the pay for legendary crests(which guarantees a legendary gem drops from rifts) The gems are more powerful than ever in this one. So if you want to run rifts with any meaning youre going to have to pay for the crests after youve ran out of the free ones they have given.

Theres a lot of free game to be had if you arent part of the hardcore min/max crowd though TBH.

there are a lot of real free games that do a better job than Blizzard, but hey, if you like it - play it. Nothing wrong with that

I absolutely hated it at first, but the action isn't too bad. Don't like the F2P elements at all. Big fix for me was in the settings there is a slider to go from 30fps to 60fps. This made the game play immensely better.

I also saw in the notification settings to receive notices when auction items sell, so I guess they are doing that again?

Wonder if it might be worth a playthrough for someone like me who has zero interest in PVP or competitive ladders and just wants to go through campaign stuff and then I'm done. Pretty much what I did with the other Dibble games.

Def for the story line. Fills in between 2 and 3 if you care about those things. Cant go wrong cause its free and you can play at your leisure.
