Google Pixel

Yeah, I have to be extra careful to not drop it while I wait for my case to come in.

Upgrade time! Wife and I are getting pixels on Wednesday. Silly kids wanted Iphone 7s.
We are all upgrading from LG G3s which were decent devices IMO.

Any thoughts on Pixel cases? I never used a case on my G3, wife and kids used one i got from amazon with a kickstand.

I picked myself up a Spigen Tough Armor. Seems pretty solid (in the protective sense), but it does add a considerable amount of bulk to the phone. Since the phone has to last so long for me, I value the potential protection more than overall slimness. It does have a fold out kickstand for landscape mode, but that's the one part that doesn't seem to be particularly sturdy. Price seemed fairly reasonable @Amazon.com, I think it was $16 or so. I guess it "lacks grip" as well, with the hard case around the middle area, but *knock on wood* I haven't dropped it yet.

First, let me say I don't care about cell phones or having the latest or greatest. I've had a couple of iPhones (from work 4s and 6) and a LG G3. Never had issues with them.

The pixel phone voice/sound quality is amazing. Called my wife while she was taking a bath and she had me on speaker. I could tell I was on speaker by the accurate representation of the bathroom echo, but her voice was crystal clear. The splashes and cat meow I heard made me feel like I was in the room. I could not believe how crisp and detailed the sound was. With our G3s she would sound like she was under water.

I called my daughter to see what her iPhone 7 sounded like and it was just horrible. Her voice was distant, garbled and inaccurate. I didn't bother to have her put me on speaker.

Wife sent a picture of one of our cats and it looks like a professional cat calendar picture.

Three days into Pixel ownership.

I haven't been this happy with a phone since I got my first Blackberry.

Enjoy. I'm assuming you got a 128GB Very Black XL ?

Anyways, ditto here. This phone just does what it's supposed to and does it well. Pure Android, no bs. Looking forward to how the line evolves.

Hey dude, actually I just got the regular size (black, 128gb) -- my last three phones have been 5.7"+ and wanted to go back to something smaller. Took a little getting used to not having the massive screen but really appreciating the size. Can't say enough about the the phone -- love it.

Agree with switch, the pixel is amazing. Have a black pixel xl 128gb myself. The camera continues to amaze me. It's so nice to have a phone that isn't weighed down by bloatware

Exactly, so many years with Samsung it just seemed normal to have all that excess weight and bloat. The Pixel feels so agile and snappy in anything you throw at it. And yes, dat camera -- like having an SLR in your pocket.

The monthly software/security updates tho....So damn nice.

When I was looking into getting the pixel xl, a lot of people complained that the fingerprint scanner was too high up and hard to reach. I have very large hands and the phone is very easy to use.

If Google bring out a Pixel Tablet around 8 inches in size, I'd be sold on it. My TabS is sluggish as hell now, even with a lot of bloat turned off.

I've had the Pixel since launch and I still think its the best Android handset on the market. I've played with the S8 and its nice but still doesn't feel as smooth as the Pixel and it has a ton of useless **** on it.

Isn't the pixel a Verizon exclusive in the states? I'd love to give it a go, but verizon will never see another red cent from me.

You can buy it directly from Google and it will work with every domestic carrier I believe.

T-Mobile doesnt sell the pixel but there is this:

I bought my Pixel XL 128GB through Project Fi. I tried Project Fi for a month, decided it wasn't for me and switched to T-Mobile. They ended up giving me all $325 in one big bill credit instead of over 24 months. I also got a $150 gift card for switching carriers.

What new phone did you go with? Or did you get to keep your Pixel?

T-mo has done very well by my family since we switched over a year ago. I wouldn't get anything extra from them, but as solid as they've been + having the pixel would make phone life pretty sweet for me. Love my 6+ but a couple of aspects have left me a little cool towards iOS lately.

Single speaker bottom firing - my phone is 85% media device, and 10% camera and 5% phone.

Mounted on my dash, that speaker is a deal breaker for me. It might sound picky, but I don't care. I want my music and movies blasting out of multiple, front facing speakers lol. I may never get another phone :o

Yeah that's understandable. Given that the Nexus 5 was decent enough for my needs, pretty much anything will do the job. It's really not that bad, but I can see how much of a downgrade it can be from stereo front facing speakers.
