Game pass

For me I played tons of games on game pass and already got my money’s worth.

Same here since I typically don't finish most games I start. Its the prefect platform for people like me

Ditto. Plus my M.O. for gameplay is usually hop on a game right away, play it for a while, get sick of it and fall off. By the time they take it off Game Pass I probably don't give a **** anymore :D

Well for some reason I have 2 EA accounts and the one I dont really use anymore already had my Xbox ID linked to it. Bleh, so I guess I have to sign into that account now when I want to use EA play. And what's with EA not allowing Origin and their new EA Beta client not to run at the same time.

I have Xbox Insider as I previously signed up for the Minecraft RTX beta. Now through that system, I've been testing Game Pass games with actual directories  Seems like a step in the right direction, and away from the horrible "WindowsApps" UWP system in place.

Actual .exe files, actual game assets, actual mod- and compatibility with other versions such as Steam?!

Sounds like some great improvements coming. A lot of that stuff being lacking with Game Pass is a big part of why I never bothered with it. Having access to those things are essential to differentiating PC gaming from consoles.

Tried to install FH5 and it just disappeared 100gb of my HDD and didn't show any progress and it even let me install it again. SO I was ready to go crazy with permissions again....but I just had to wait 30minutes for windows to do whatever the **** it was doing behind the scenes and it finally showed the download progress etc. Not sure why basic things are so hard for the app. uwp sucks.

Yeah, I've had plenty of moments where I just about pulled my hair-out because of how the system works being so ****ing clunky and hard to troubleshoot.

I use the install button in the Xbox app. I also queue pre orders through that app. Don’t get any issues. And windows automatically downpumps games on both my putters on release.

Similar problems plus it's impossible to tell what the files are in the installed folder as they use nonsense names.

When my three months is up I'll be having to wipe the whole folder as the total files size is far too large for what I actually have installed.

Anybody able to offer some help for this crappy service?

I installed "The Gunk" but the other day it tried to do an update. The update failed and wouldn't restart. The game isn't too big so I thought I'd uninstall and reinstall. Uninstall went fine. The game was removed from my list and Win start menu. The X Box app however still shows it as update pending and only offers a "resume install" option.

When I finish the two games I've got going I'll try to reinstall the whole app and see if that helps but, really, this does nothing to inspire confidence in the thing.

Same issue with one of the other games, installed then just hung on start after all the preconfigured etc so had to uninstall. Cba’d to retry.

This is the sorta thing I've encountered. Try reinstalling the game and then opening the MS Store and see if it pulls the update correctly instead of the XBox app.

The install process for games regularly bugs out. One way that can usually fix it is to repair and reset the xbox app (via Settings > Apps) and also can do the same for the store app, which is a hunk of junk. Can sometimes dot it for the app itself if it's installed but not working properly. I got The Gunk installed and then tried playing it. It bugged out really strangely with objects literally vanishing and appearing every second like it was trying to give me epilepsy. But I reset it and it installed the whole thing again and it worked fine. UWP IS AWFUL.

Yeah I can't wait for the XBox App update that changes how this works to being like Steam,Origin and every other game related store because the methods used by MS Store and UWP in general really doesn't work well here.

I've noticed that sometimes updating through the Xbox app doesn't work. So I go to the Microsoft Store, click on Library (bottom left corner), and update from there. Seems to work when Xbox app doesn't, but YMMV.

But yeah, I completely agree that the way MS architected the whole Xbox PC experience is stupid.

Thank you Munkus, that did the trick.

What a carry on though. I know that some people regard any pro Steam comment as fanboyism but honestly I cannot overstate the value of a platform that works. I've had more issues in about six months of Xbox than I've had with almost 20 years of steam.
