Fantastic price on R9 Fury (Newegg)

You can convert HDMI to DVI anyway, so it's not really necessary to have the connector just for people like me who have old monitors. The adapter is literally $5, so it's hardly going to break the bank for those who need it.

That being said, the Asus Furys do still have a DVI for anyone who cares about that sort of thing.

I've had my card for over 12 months and had absolutely no issues whatsoever. What monitor do you use and what input? I had a BenQ monitor that would not display if you used the displayport. I changed cables and everything but no output whatsoever. If I used HDMI it was fine which is what I did until I replaced it with my current monitor.

The strange thing was the computer would start but with no screen output I thought it had hung and initially this made me think it was a computer issue. BenQ finally admitted it was a known issue!

If you want to test the card put it into one of your kids machines and if it still exhibits the same behaviour you know it's a card issue. Also did you completely uninstall your previous drives using DDU. This gets rid of all the crap that builds up and gives you a better chance of a clean install.
Two monitors, one connected via DVI, and the other DP. Yes, I uninistalled the drivers using DDU. No display without drivers, no display with a clean AMD driver install. No display either DVI or any of the DP ports. Putting the old video card(s) back in, full display functionality on both screens, with same cables.

Same PSU, as well. With no load, the Sapphire isn't going to be much if any heavier on the PSU than the twin 270s, which are using the same power cables (though only one each, and just the 6pin bits, vs the Sapphire which uses both in 6+2 config).

The Sapphire worked flawlessly for about a day. Mid game, in Civ5, both monitors went to sleep simultaneously and that was the last input they had from the Sapphire card.

I cannot put the Sapphire into another system, as the cases in use don't support a card of that length.

It sounds like a faulty card if it was working and then suddenly stopped. If it were a simple crash or a driver bug it should have fixed itself once you restarted. My Fury didn't work any differently than any other card I've had. I say just go ahead with the RMA if you haven't already. Sucks that you had this bad luck though. :(

You say to connect to dvi on monitor and hdmi on the card ?
The question is who change the colors ? The video card or the monitor when connected both through HDMI? The monitor have native 2xHDMI ports so it may seem the problems are solved but on the hand i questioned if the color retention will be the same.
It clicked ...
Actually i can test it with the GTX 980 and connect both through hdmi and see what will end up.

What about building outside the case? Pull mobo, hook up PSU, insert graphics card and power on by shorting the power header on the mobo?

It's a pain but it's the only way to be sure you have a dead card.

As I understand it the signal from HDMI is the same as DVI, although it also can include audio which is obviously lost if you use DVI. So, yes, just buy an adapter and you should be able to use the ports interchangeably. I can't answer the question about the problem you're having though.

Ok ... i connected the vga and monitor through hdmi and i can say there is a difference in the output.I feel a bit smooth or blurry ... I think DVI is more jaggy/pixelated...
Also i found a sealed brand new converter between HDMI and displayport..

Yeah, this isn't a driver thing. The card, at least the outputs, is just dead. :(

This is unusual, right? My PSU (see sig) should be more than up for the task, and Civ5 with high settings shouldn't be that high a load anyway. There was no noise, no pops, just monitors going to sleep without warning.

Went ahead and set up the RMA with Newegg, for a replacement, but am wary now.

Wasnt there a known black screen issue with AMD cards a couple drivers ago that still persists?

I remember reading about it on here and I think Treeck had issues with it as well :sherlock:

Yeah, I think it was previously driver that happened to me. I forgot what driver was it, but when I had that. At first, I thought it was a bad card, but until monitor just blinked for a moment. Definitely it's a driver issue.

And also, make sure you check your monitor to change its video output properly...DOUBLE CHECK. If you are using a DP cable. This happened to me once when I installed my new Fury in and my monitor was totally blank. So I had re-select the output twice after re-plugged DP cable. It worked. Yes, I know it's weird.

dont know what you are looking at, but that link shows this:

the link is a newegg link, not a bestbuy one, so there's something cached in your browser re-directing you.

someone changed the link, it was bestbuy when i posted that pic.

the link actually said bestbuy, no caching going on there.

unless there is an injector on my work computer, ill have to check in the morning.

EDIT: yup, looks like my Honey extention was injecting its own code. bye-bye honey....

bottom line: if you dont see newegg, one of your extensions is injecting code.
