Amazon Fire TV stick vs Fire TV box?

My brother texted me about that. Had me confirm if XBL was down. Later he said he could connect again but Netflix kept hanging. Didn't bother me :wink3:

I got my fire tv stick last night, good thing I only wasted $20 bucks. I was dumb enough not to read the fine print, more specifically the hard bitrate limit of h264 on fire OS. Apparently its only 20mbps. Anyone who does proper CQR encoding will notice their videos will stutter when the bitrate rises above 20mbps. There does not seem to be a solution in sight besides re-encoding or transcoding :mad:

It's not too bad though, as it pulls amazon prime video and youtube duty being a tv source on my Sony GTV.
 
Yeah, just found out that my order is now in transit. Wasn't supposed to be here till the 17th of December, but now it will be here by the 5th of December.
 
To those that had their order bumped up is this your second notice or is it still on track after the first? Mine still says Dec 24th :(
 
I'm rooted now, via the hardware solution, and I've got Google Play services, a custom launcher (and still have access to the stock launcher), and can install any app thanks to tricking the Market to think it's a Nexus 7.

Mine says it should be here by 8PM today and lists USPS as the carrier. Problem is the mail man has come and gone. I got the Fire Stick using Amazon Prime 2 day shipping for free could they have made a carrier mistake or did the mail man not put it in the box? The tracking hasn't updated since yesterday but was only 5 hours away when it updated yesterday at noon.

Sometimes our regular delivery driver isn't the one that delivers the packages. Especially this time of year.

Ah USPS. A little trick they do is list the correct delivery time, and mark that a delivery was attempted, then they deliver the next day. This satisfies Amazon's 2 day guarantee, and lets them deliver a day later.

This happens all the time, I have packages sent to my work and the USPS guy physically comes into the building every day. He tells me straight up this is what happens when they are behind.

Got mine 3 days ago .. not bad for 19.99.. spent more on coffee in a week.. wish was a better DLNA player or capabilities, ending up coughing up $40 for a 1 year subscription to Plex, although I prefer Serviio. Maybe at end of year I will either buy or hppefully a better solution

I think the USPS is getting behind. I've got one item I sent out on Thursday and one item coming to me that was shipped Thursday, both via Priority Mail 2-day, and the scheduled delivery day is Monday for both. It should be Saturday. Guess I'll see if they actually arrive tomorrow like they're supposed to.
 
Well it was in my mailbox this afternoon so I got it set it up and proceeded to one hand the first level of Sonic 2 with the non voice remote with a 2 minute and 29 second clear time :lol:

Got Netflix installed and running and currently looking at what else I can install.
 
One thing I've noticed is if you're browsing around in the Netflix app for too long it becomes unresponsive. You have to power cycle the stick to get it working normally again. Dunno if it's some kind of memory leak or what.

I haven't had this issue on any of my Sticks...
