15.3 BETA drivers now out

It's not that VSR/DSR look bad, but that supersampling solutions offer the same or better quality for less performance hit.

I use 3200x1800 or whatever it is in alien isolation and in POE, they both look miles better than 1440p imo. I am probably missing something I guess and there is some flaw you expert guys who notice every pixel see, but to me it looks better because it looks identical to 1400p but sharper. Am I missing something? Why is it so bad?

Unless the pixels scale evenly (like 3840x2160 on a 1920x1080 display) it looks worse to me. It has an odd and practically ineffectual AA effect and introduces blur, almost like running the display at a non-native resolution.

Yeah I don't notice it. I'm old though. I just notice it reduces some of the jaggies in alien isolation and makes Poe look a bit better.

Don't know if it was the fault of these beta's or just windows being a pain in the ass today, but when I fired up the system this morning, the drivers failed to load completely and no matter how many times I restarted the system, they simply wouldn't load.

Tried my usual driver uninstaller to remove the betas, restart the system and install them again, and one of the cards was listed as having a problem, and it did it on several driver install attempts....I was starting to think that one was really defective.

Finally installed the latest WHQL set, listed a card as having a problem, but this time installed the betas right over the WHQL ones without uninstalling them, and all now all the cards work....

Software.... You just got to hate it sometimes, no matter who's fault it is (windows or the catalysts in this case)....

Seems it involves 2 specific files or services when it blue screens, and it can be either one anytime it does crash:

AMDkmpfd.sys ---> when I try to install new drivers.

atikmdag.sys---> when I use the utility to uninstall the previous driver set, which has always worked in the past.

Finally, after about 10 attempts, the drivers managed to install without causing a blue screen, and this is a fresh install of windows that's only 10 days old, and hardly has anything else installed....

Seems AMD is going back to the old days....Hardware is decent enough, but the driver support stinks...:bleh:

I know they're cutting back on expenses, but that shouldn't include driver support...

Anyone having issues with the latest drivers in gta 5? My 295x2 core clocks are bouncing around all over the place even with the power limit set to plus 50.
