Windows 10

How do I disable this windows keep on ringing home... DAMMIT!
If it weren't for Forza and Gears, I wouldn't even be turning the damn thing on. I still can't figure out, how to stop it from using my internet without permission. How do I disable onedrive pop up if I don't have a onedrive account? How do I uninstall Skype? How do I uninstall all the apps that keep asking for updates everytime I turn "on" store?

Seriously, this windows is so crap!

For the automagically reinstalling apps (Candy Crush and so on), I did this and turned off "Occasionally show suggestions in Start" in Settings>Personalization>Start. That seems to have stopped that whole stupid thing.

I just now right clicked on the OneDrive cloud and set it up not to start when Windows starts...so we'll see on that. Before that, I just unassociated my PC from OneDrive so the app would run, but not do anything.

As for the whole "phone home" thing that is Windows 10, there's a bajillion security and privacy settings I've seen on the web, some of which I've disabled/enabled kind of randomly. I'm sure there's a detailed writeup somewhere.

Update: To turn off the OneDrive dealie, you have to change some settings in the Local Group Policy editor, I guess because digging into obscure system settings is so much easier than a yes/no checkbox "Use OneDrive" in the system settings...

Not too fond of the new updates. Had 2 updates now fail to install multiple times. I really am starting to want to downgrade back to a stable OS build of 10. They can't seem to fix anything with these new builds. Network file manipulation kills explorer.exe FFS! I can't rename a folder on my home server without crashing the desktop.

What a freaking joke.

I haven't logged onto my windows machine since the anniversary update was forced on me.

I said it before, install Windows 10 and lock it down from all those spying things and disable Windows update permanently. I'm still on 1511, no problems with everything so why update things that ain't broken?

THe security is broken.:bleh: That's what the updates are for.

And people wonder why MS are shoving forced updates down our throats.

I get the whole privacy thing and all that jazz and I'm none too thrilled about it or cumulative updates that **** up in general. But purposefully denying security updates and fixes just to spite MS is a dick move.

Every time I log on the damn thing wants to update and then update the games. By the time I am done and it is time to play, something else comes up. I really wanted to play Forza and Gears on PC but it really ain't happening.

Just keep your computer on 24/7 ;). That way Microsoft will have total access at anytime to update. Chances are you might not get interrupted as much.

My comp is on 24/7. However, I do not like the idea of running spyware / Windows 10 24/7.

I had no issues getting the anniversary update on my home PC but did have some problems on my work PC.

The update froze the PC and I had to do a forced shutdown and restart for it to finish updating, and yeah it was frozen on that screen that says "updating please do not turn off your computer" lol.. That actually happened twice during the install. Seems to be fine now though but had me worried for a while.

I just disabled Windows Update this morning. For some reason, when my PC updates and tries to reboot, it turns off. It won't power on until I unplug it for 10 secs, plug it back in, and then hit the power button. Restart works fine as long as its not trying to do an update. This happens whether it reboots on its own after download the patches or I reboot it when it has patches downloaded to install. I couldn't find any help online so I just turned off Windows Update.

I'm ready to reinstall windows 10 and get off of the Windows Insider program all together. They are releasing junk to the Insider Program. It's a total joke. They aren't listening to the feedback of the group.

I booted my one remaining win machine up this morning - cumulative update waiting. 10-15 minutes later

I shut it down.

Anyone want to buy a nice gaming laptop? :)

I think he ain't givin you no tree fiddy.

Also....I wish there was some way to tell M$ to stop giving me the damn auto-updates and restarting at a time when I am not "using my computer", because I AM USING IT.

How are you "using it"? :bleh:

I have never had this happen to me and I have had win 10 since release.
It only restarts when I am not actively using it

If the computer is doing something, downloading or streaming etc it never restarts

Mine did auto update on me once early on, right in the middle of hammering out a curriculum....that was a while ago though. Hasn't done that since. The forced updates are still tiresome though, but I want any security fixes available, so I'm not going to disable anything...
