6800 beats the 3090 in Ass Creed Valhalla at 1440p...

It’s a beast of a card. Out doing the 3070 100% of the time and even beating the 3080 in some cases.

Dude, it's not bad but it's not great. It performs slightly worse than 3080 on average (mind you not even at max settings, but rather select settings as to not expose 6800XT's weakness...). They do not yet have a DLSS competitor, nor do I believe without AI 64xSSAA will it be on par, RT quality is inferior, and Nv is yet to release their version of SAM for a small uplift.

Let's be real guys, if the shoe was on the other foot everyone would be saying Nv is getting crushed... I call it as it is. It's a mediocre release overall, with good raster, shiithouse RT, and an inferior feature set.

AMD know exactly what they're doing, that's why they priced it at $50 less than 3080. If they had a winner, they would have priced it accordingly.

EDIT/ And I mean that. Look at Ryzen prices, they have a winner and are charging accordingly. AMD are not shy of raising prices...

Y U do dis 2 me?

Its competitor is the 3070. It’s slaps it.

However, it’s not the best thing since sliced bread :bleh: NVs SAM will push it forward some more reducing the gap. Until then, 6800 is a better option with its 16gb VRAM.

AMD should have done more with the RT performance. That has let them down a bit.

Sorry dude I thought you meant 6800XT. I just got home from work and missed that bit..

Yeh, vanilla 6800 is a beast without competitor. It's the best card of the AMD range IMHO, and I haven't even seen 6900XT yet. That's probably by design too, because of most stock (thanks to defective dies). It really is the best value option.

There are 10+ 6800's in stock currently at Overclockers UK for £599.99. For that price no one seems to be buying them. Only selling to UK and Ireland.

Playing devil's advocate:

Tend to read virtually most of the reviews and why I shared that 3dCenter link. I was surprised how the Rtx 3070 did at 4k in comparison to the 6800, figured there would be more 6800 separation. Even though the 6800 offers more raster performance, the Rtx 3070, surprisingly offers more raster performance value at 4k, 1440p and 1080P.

AMD allocated 7 times more gpus to aibs than it did for the reference so should be better availability next week. Its the reverse of what Nvidia did releasing most of theirs on reference so far.

Huh? Source? Founders Editions have been very hard to come by, far worse than custom PCB boards.

8GB card is not going to have long term life at 4k. Absolute terrible value when you are paying $500.

One thing I love and hate about AMD / ATi is drivers. Considering they are trading blows with Nvidia now, you know you are going to get ridicules performance squeezed out down the road.

...

First gen RT performance is better than Turing but behind 2nd gen Ampere. Most people don't care about RT anyway.

....

Imagine how beautiful The Talos Principal 2 will be with RT. Hope they can incorporate accurate RT reflections into the solutions for some "star" puzzles.

Memory Express Canada had exactly this many in stock of the 6800/6800XT

Due to the extremely limited release of AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series reference design graphics cards, we will not have any AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards available for purchase instore or online on November 18th, nor will we be accepting backorders on these cards at this time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

That's worse then Ampere....

It's not like they chose not to make a bazillion units. There's a reason why Nvidia and AMD didn't meet supply expectations.

We just don't know what that is yet.

I think we can all agree that Lisa and Jensen are fuming mad they ain't making the sales.

**If AMD's AIB cards are in large supply next week (Narrator - they're not), that will change the public view dramatically.

The same people that were roasting NV for poor supply are now oddly quiet .. strange :)

This has been a shitty year for hardware. More than anything, I think the consoles ate up so much of the manufacturing. There was an insane amount of consoles available at launch, and they still sold out extremely quickly..

My point was that if you were looking hard for a card you should have had one by now.
If you're doing everything you need to do, then maybe. By that, setting alerts and immediately leaping to action every time there is a drop and attempting to get an order in. Sitting at the PC monitoring discord channels. Or running a bot. If you don't have time (work, family, whatever) to put in that type of effort then it's been extremely difficult.

I hope this is what happens, as I missed out on the ref model, and would like to get a AIB next week if I can. I'm not going to be choosy about it either. Whichever one I can get into cart and check out is going to be good enough.

If all are sold out in seconds again, then that sends the message at that point to minimize 6900 XT launch expectations and to plan on this issue not being sorted out until well after first of the year most likely.

the best bet for the 6900xt my guess is to try to get it from amd's site directly, seems to be the only place some people were able to get 6800/6800xt. Apparently they were blocking ip of people who were spamming the site for stock update or something, at least that's what was said on reddit. Can't find the thread now though.

Having strong demand for your products are a good thing. Meeting demand may be challenging due to the pandemic and the insatiable demand for innovative tech. I think a rational person may understand this point.
