Production is a balancing act. It cost money to "tool-up" and to tool-up to produce 3x widgets a month cost more than to tool-up to produce 1x widgets a month. Over the life of the product you are not going to need 3x widgets a month. You need to balance it. It also cost money to warehouse products. Warehoused products are not generating income so stocking up before release is not always better. If the product is not a 'fad' I don't see the point of having enough supply to meet demand at launch.

It sucks that I can't get a new toy now, but I'm not angry with AMD or nVidia about it.

ya it really likes ass creed, thats one of the games where sam makes a substantial diff, it destroys nvidia in this game actually at 1440p and lower
105fps vs 82 for the 3090 or 74(ouch) for the 3080

Its the vega 56 to the vega 64 all over again. Id have thought there would be a bigger margin this time. But I think the 6800xt may have some driver updates soon to up the perf a bit.

17% less cores but often quite a bit les than that in perf vs the 6800xt. Maybe hitting some kind of bottle neck. Maybe aibs can put out 18 gbps vram instead of the 16gbps.

Pax, I know you like to post flimsy shite but this out is waaaay out there. :hmm:

Ive seen it mentionned on twitter last few weeks as well by leakers. AMD put most of its gpus into aibs vs its own reference.

Well see on the 25th but I give it a month to see how much availability is there...

Playing devil's advocate:

Tend to read virtually most of the reviews and why I shared that 3dCenter link. I was surprised how the Rtx 3070 did at 4k in comparison to the 6800, figured there would be more 6800 separation. Even though the 6800 offers more raster performance, the Rtx 3070, surprisingly offers more raster performance value at 4k, 1440p and 1080P.

There is nothing value about a $500 video card with only 8GB of ram. :D
It will have a very short lifespan on 4k. It might not even live past Jänner with the 3060ti coming out.

What I love and hate about Radeon is drivers is that you know that you are going to get incredible performance squeezed out of them throughout their lifespan. For their cards to be trading blows with Nvidia now is impressive.

Yet my card is about 62-64'c and is very quiet.

So it's not really a issue if it uses a bit more Watts, sure would be nice if it used less but it's not like it's causing heat issues or power issues.

global warming  :p

it matters in Phoenix when it turns my office into a sauna

Ah, so completely baseless with no proof besides "you should believe me".. you can't really believe this garbage? Just look at the cards being resold and the amount of AIB cards dwarf the FE cards by massive amounts.

Come on man.

What nunz said.

Id go as far as 4 weeks after launch for wider availabilty. As in I can buy one off newegg or amazon anytime I choose. This isnt new up here we saw it take weeks after launch for past gpu/cpu releases to be easily available.

i do hope a lot of these asshole scalpers get stuck with cards they can't sell or take a loss

This is designated as a rumor thread though, right?

Still, I'm with you. Not singling anyone out but the amount of baseless bullshit that gets posted on this forum is astounding. Everyone's an expert apparently. Not to mention the incessant circular arguments and downright trolling from certain high post count longtime members. Its like a daycare some days.

The powercolor one looks pretty massive:

Not a bad design either... Hope they make a saphirre toxic 6800xt and not just the 6900xt.

I like the added ram and also agree it adds value. Amd is very competitive with performance overall.
