Official NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series & H100 Thread

It isn’t tape KAC. It’s shrink boot. You do what you’re comfortable with. Bending electrical wiring changes the properties of the wiring. Resistance increases, which generates heat.

You do you. I’m taking the route that I’m comfortable with.

That’s a really good idea for the 4 pin part of the connector. Fwiw I just got my card yesterday so I’ve had plenty of time to read about connector issues, and plugged mine in before installing the card. It just felt like I could get much better leverage that way. There was no click that I could feel or hear, but it did stay firmly seated after a few gentle but firm tugs.

The squid…that protrudes about one inch above where the side of the case would be. With even gentle pressure on it I could see the connector beginning to angle downward. I figured better safe than sorry. I could bend the squid and then connect it, but the thought of a hotter wire due to resistance talked me out of that.

Bottom line - I’m not rich, please don’t burn

Not rich either so I totally get it.

I put my case side on twice to make sure it wasn't bending too much, its a slight bend but not a lot. I was excited when i got the slight click, but they need to make the connector better.

As you should. :D But its mostly the connector not being seated 100%, Gamers Nexus did an in depth video on it, made me at ease before I got the card honestly.

My case still spent a bit of time on its side lol. I saw that video too. Excellent job he did analyzing and breaking the whole issue down.

It’s funny, I wonder if that “click” is just ingrained in me. Ever since I’ve worked with anything that required a click, I have a hard time living with it if it’s not there. :D

It is ingrained in us, because it was the norm. Hence my excitement when I heard it, but it was so quite but it was like OK we are good? Then slightly tugged and pushed. *knocks on wood* So far so good. :D

I don't want to jynx it, but HX1200 with corsair adaptor going strong. Nice audible click when connecting, and looks clean with a single cable.

I’m really looking forward to that clean look, and being able to put the side back on my computer.

I get a click. Meh. People unable to connect cables. Humanity needs to be wiped and world rebooted. :bleh:

So by pure dumb luck you won the click lottery, therefore everyone else is a failure. Is this the narrative you really want to push here bud?

Ok that was funny KAC.

Lazy8s, hope all goes well with new cable. Post pics, when you get it I know it will be clean! But even if I can get a 3x 8pin to 16pin through Seasonic, it will look nice but I really don't want to mess with anything as it's working. :bleh:

Anyone need an adapter for Corsair? They were hard to find in stock and I have an extra one. I’ll sell it for what I paid for it.

Damn if I had confirmation that adapter will work with my EVGA 1300 W G2 from 2015, I’d be all over it.

Thanks SSXeon, will do. Hopefully I’ll have it in 2 or 3 weeks. It’s a shame that there isn’t one standard that would work with any PSU…but as someone above said, hopefully we won’t see another debacle like this again.

I get you on not wanting to touch anything - if it ain’t broke lol….My OCD isn’t handling the case door sitting on the floor very well :p

The 4090 has me just not really playing games atm. I was in the middle of GOW Ragnarok but I want to use the 4090 so I keep wasting time trying to find something that utilizes it or loading up games I’ve already played just to see how much better it runs. There is nothing really out atm that needs it save for cyberpunk but I already played that. I really don’t see anything on the way anytime soon that needs a 4090 either.

It’s a drought in games. However, if you are like me that enjoys high fps games at 4K DLDSR resolution then MW2, Dead Space remake and Ghost Recon Breakpoint are good ones to play at around 150-180 fps. Similarly, there is also NFSU and Plague Tale 2 which played wonderfully on the 4090.

I am loving being able to finally crank out 120+ fps at 4K. First time I am gaming at 4K proper btw. This was impossible to do on the 3090 Ti in the games I mentioned above.

Next interesting game might be in March I think.

I've been playing a ton of MW2 over the last few months now. Grinding out camos. Not cheating or good enough to do it quickly so it's been a (fun) time working on it.

I went through several 7900xtx and they were all good cards. I settled on a Tai Chi and would've stuck with it but there was a fan issue with my card and newegg was oos at the time I went to go do the exchange.

So I'm back here with a gigabyte OC 4090 card. Done playing for now until the next best thing comes out I guess.
