DriveClub Club

I don't get the cars on ice part. I brake going into turns and the game handles fine. I think once higher tier cars unlock, better handling will make the game feel less slippery. As far as your complaints about free roam, I can see why they didn't go that route. My biggest gripe with the game so far has been that the servers are still down. If they aren't up today, I will be asking for a refund.
Play Forza 5 then Horizon and then this. Come back and tell me if cars are on ice or not.

if you are playing with the game which looking at the butt of your car,

it does seems like the car is icing lol

this game sucks. such a old gameplay style which does nothing special.. and the online mode doesn't work at all.

maybe online is the only way to go. and which has never works till now. lol

I don't see how online could help this game. It is just points you are getting and you get to share them. Big frickin' woop.

I play in dash cam and feel no feedback from the game when I accelerate and am sliding through corners. In Forza games you really feel the weight of the car and how it shifts. Even with the arcade physics that FH2 has.

Another DriveClub gameplay, it's a race at The Kyle track of Scotland at evening and night (time x60) with the McLaren P1 (car with KERS and DRS).

Proves my point very well. You make 90 and even 180 degree turns and the car just glides through them with minimal braking. Sense of speed in your P1 feels exactly same as my Mini Cooper since camera shakes so much it is hard to discern the difference.

Not played the game, or even seen it in real life. But the camera shake is about the only thing I like the look of as far as car physics is concerned. That feeling of lift as you go over bumps. Other than that it does look very average. Doesn't look to have a real sense of speed, and very arcade like handling. All the tracks I've watch look very narrow with very aggressive AI. Just seems a very odd combination of ideas.

I quite like the game, graphics and as good as people orgasmily claimed, but it's a fun game.

Now if only the online worked. :bleh:

I imagine they will fix a lot of the nitpick, via updates and patches.

Online still doesn't work for me either. Which also means I cannot unlock the Golf GTI and will always be second place in all hot hatch championships simply because of top speed and acceleration difference that car has. What a load of crap.

However, my impressions after getting about 35 star points are:

a) The tracks are very good. I love the track variety and locations. Just in terms of twists and turns the tracks are laid out well. However, they are extremely restrictive in what you can do on them (just edge out and get a off track penalty), hit rails to accelerate wherever possible and other crap that goes on during the race.

b) Graphics are PS3 level quality for the most part. Some effects are nicer but generally when I open this game after a round of FH2, I really feel the downgrade and the aliasing just kills stuff for me. At least in Forza 5 the aliasing wasn't as noticeable in dash view. In this game even the dash is aliased like hell.

c) AI is my biggest gripe with the game. I have literally been knocked off track with AI zipping past. There is a lot of rubber banding. On straights I have seen AI catch up with me WITH THE SAME ****ING CAR! Since there is no customization it is retarded that AI is driving faster than you. AI also does not change course, in collisions they are immune to turning around it seems or going off track as if they are glued to the racing line. Very very few times have I seen AI go off track. Actually in past 30+ races only once it happened. Also when I take the turn in BMW at the same speed as the guy in front of me he does not glide whereas, my car glides as if it is on ice and hits the guard rail. Literally same speed since I was shadowing the guy and the AI car was glued to the racing line.

d) Penalties are retarded. Should be taken out completely apart from loss of FAME.

Overall, I see myself jumping into this game due to the tracks but not much beyond that.

Hyperbole much?
Care to explain what you mean? Have you seen the vegetation and snow effects around the tracks. The number of invisible walls, the smoke from the tyres? Many effects are PS3 quality. What is good is the lighting. However, the shadows suck. Especially when you see highly pixelated shadows on your windscreen as you pass through areas with trees. The shadows don't even make sense since the tree structure is completely different from the shadow being cast. The leaves that flow when you zip past are frickin' retarded. This effect was much better in the Need for Speed game (don't remember which one). Also, in terms of track quality, NFS The Run or NFS HP (2010) was better in the looks/graphics department.

There is also no rain and snow thus far and we have to see as to how good or bad that would be. What they showed in videos was fantastic but the final game is very poor compared to what was shown.

I would love to hear what graphics or effects you found as next gen since whatever I am seeing is last gen.

I would argue that even Forza Horizon 2 rain is last gen equivalent. But everything else is pretty next gen in that game (see the road textures, full AA-ed cars, destructible environments, volumetric smoke, lighting and so on).

I either buy this or The Crew.

Sirbaron, omega.. How are you guys liking the game? Should I snag it?
