Baldurs gate III

I'm on the fence with this one. Part of what made Baldurs Gate great was the INCREDIBLE story. Now I have no idea if this game can live up to that or not, but that isn't my concern. My concern is the other part and how they switched to a generic turn based game instead of the turn based/real time mix that made the BG battles so unique, harrying, and ultimately satisfying. It was far more tactical in how to set your units up (or you could go hardcore and play as just one character which I loved to do).

I may pick this game up still when it leaves early access, unless of course it gets slammed hard by player ratings.

I disagree on that one. I hate the stupid real time turn based crap. Pillars and kingmaker are two of the best crpgs we have ever had simply because they have proper turn based modes. While it would be nice if they were gride based solely for control issues, they are supremely nice to have.

As for story though. Im pretty confident it will be goode. All of their divinity stories have been goode, and the two original sin stories have been pretty great especially.

Im not saying it will be amazrballs best game ever, but im confident it will be a great crpg.

well, i like the story so far. The turn-based combat is also nothing i'd worry about. It does has a strong Divinity vibe to it, but that's nothing bad. As for the price, well it's 60 bucks over here. If you're not sure if it's worth the, then maybe scroll through the comments on steam, it might help.

No.

It will be in early access for a whole year, saves will not be compatible with the final version, and you will not get an early access discount.

Wait.

it's EA, so, as usual, who knows what it will be at the release date? It's the same with every game, although this one is a LOT more polished right now than most others AFTER release. As said, if you're not sure, then simply don't. I don't see a problem with that.

This game worth early boning?

Early Access is for the benefit of the developer so they can get constructive feedback (and funding) from a dedicated and knowledgeable userbase which would hopefully allow the game to be the best it can be.

If you don't play these type of games regularly, you should stay away.
This isn't an extended demo or even a beta test, it's product development.

I believe EA is the way all games ought to be developed, but I will never pay for one.
Neither can I help the process nor am I interested in playing unpolished and unfinished games.

Instead I bought DOS2 for 60% off, heh.
It will be my first turn-based game and hopefully not my last.

I picked it up, will get some time to dig in this weekend -- so far it looks great. Hope they get more classes in the future.

It is one of the best i've played for a looooooooooong time, no question.

To each their own. I thought the gameplay was good, but the plot and characters were incredibly forgettable. I barely remember it. I think games like Wasteland 3 and Tyranny are far superior for modern CRPG's.

Meh, I played Wasteland 3 for 4-5 hours and thought the opposite -- fabricated, forgettable characters and storylines. Fun game but didn't engage me. BG3 had me engaged in first 5 minutes.

I'm a huuuuuuge Baldurs Gate fan but not so much a Divinity fan (tried playing DOS 1 for a few hours and lost interest). For it to have a "Divinity" feel to it gives me pause.

That said, I'll keep an eye on this one but $60 is waaay too much for an EA game. I've learned my lesson in that regard (thanks Wolcen!), wait for the finished product . That said, even a "finished" product can be a total mess as well (thanks Flight Simulator!).

When it drops to $30 or less then I'll jump on board.

same here. Really enjoying it so far. It's a lot more complex than i thought it would be, but that's a good thing.

Just started the game, and running at 5120x2160 and runs pretty great so far.

I for one am glad it doesn't have wall of text like most CRPG's because I like voice acting in games, and this one so far is ticking all my boxes.

I enjoy it so far, I mean it's early access so problems are to be expected and they could have gone a different road for some things (feels like divinity original sin to much) but it's good.

co-op looks like it could be a blast once the games finished and done. I expect they will do what they have for all of their other games and do a enhanced edition a year or so down the road for that extra bit of spit shine they like.

Just did co-op with a buddy -- super fun, the combat with 5e rules is awesome. Adding a couple buddies tomorrow night. I really can't see the divinity comparisons anymore -- leaps and bounds better.

Ugh...i couldn't watch it for more than a minute. That guys overly enthusiastic laugh made it unbearable. Every single thing that happened was the funniest thing he ever saw...

So would an RTX 2070 gaming laptop be enough to play this one on? Previous company bought it for me last year to do “pentesting” on (don’t ask how I convinced them  ) and this game sparked my interest with the focus on mind flayers / etc.
