Baldurs gate III

Argh, now I need to start playing the first two games! At one point in the past I started playing the second game but somehow midway I didn't continue. Not sure was it the difficulty or being frustrated with the combat which was based on action queuing and pausing every freaking moment before it turns into a cluster-mess. Other than that, it was a game that got my interest.

Really really hoping it is turn based and not Real Time with pause, or at the very least have the option for both like Pillars of Eternity 2. If it is RTWP only, then I'll have to skip the game, I have found I no longer like RTWP games.

BG and BG2 were the greatest RPG stories I ever played (including the final fantasy series). I have VERY high expectations for BG3, but this will absolutely be on my watch list and might be the first DD style game I've played in years.

Games being made by larian studios, aka Divinity Original Sin, so there is decent hope the game will ACTUALLY be turn based and follow a solid amount of dnd rules.

Never played the others and would be too afraid to start. Hope you guys enjoy the sequel though.

I think Larian makes great gameplay, but they aren't very good writers. The story of last two Divinity games was totally forgettable.

I really can't get into isometric view games anymore.

Those games are like 8 track cassette tapes. They were good for a period, but not so much now.

Are you saying you want to be able to move the cam around and that kinda thing? Or do you want more of a GTA kind of view?

I don't want a stuck view like in the old Baldur's gate games and Diablo series. Or Divinity Original sin.

I want to be able to move the camera around down to my character if needed, and look at the sky to get a true sense of the world.

I was able to do this with Neverwinter Nights 1/2 (though I can't remember if it was with a mod or not).

I hope it's good, but I can't remember a single character from a Larian game. I'm not big on their writing. This looks a lot like Dragon Age 1, which was already kind of Baldur's Gate 3 (although this has legit turn based combat).

Looks like DOS 3 with Dragon Age inspirations. Don't know why they are calling it Baldur's Gate 3. It has nothing in common with it. It's in the Forgotten Realms and will no doubt feature the city of Baldur's Gate but the similarities end there. I think they should have called it Baldur's Gate with some sort of subtitle rather than BG3 if they were determined to use the forgotten realms and 5E. Personally, I'm not interested in it but the CGI is tip top notch and the graphics are pretty. DOS fans will love it. I think the Baldur's Gate community will be divided on it.
