What's the last thing you purchased?

That's forward thinking. Have to wonder if an intermediate goal of down payment on a house might not be a bigger impact overall though? Ownership VS lifetime of rent.
That's another plan entirely. I'm hoping that do something about that but it's linked to my pension and the lump sum I'll get from that. I thnk in the future kids will every bit of help they can muster. The SIPP is very much the long game, cash goes in, you invest it as you see fit and she won't be able to access till she's 57 at least. When she's 18 she can take control of the product and manage it herself. I think it's easier to talk pensions with young people if they have something to nuture to begin with.

Our old GE side by side's defroster died after 15 years of use. Would've stuck with the brand but none of their french door models would fit properly in our space so ended up with the above. Had to give up half a shelf as Mom didn't think it was safe to keep milk on the door drawers and the cartons were too tall no matter how I jiggered the 3 levels where the shelves can go. Thing gave us a jolt when it started beeping as we were transferring food from our igloo after it cooled down to the right temperature. Apparently these new fangled fridges have an alarm if you keep the door open too long.

Waited 30 years for this it was only out on VHS... It never came out on dvd or bluray. There was a laserdisc edition but the download of it was awful :

QIDI Plus 4(3D printer).
I've been designing and building golf putter heads.
Old printer has a tough time with fiber infused nylon.

A 2025 Hyundai Elantra Preferred in "Cyber Grey". First new car of my life, picking it up today. It was going to cost me at least a grand to get my 2011 S**tmobile Cruze to the point I could drive it out west with any confidence, so it was time to get rid of the rust bucket.

I did have to laugh on the trade-in, 'tho. We had some running to do and the wife asked if the extra kilometers would affect the trade in value. The salesman had the politest possible way of saying the old car is a rusty pile of crap.

"You could put another hundred thousand on it and not affect the trade-in."

Edit: Now that I physically have it, a picture or two...yes, it snowed between when I bought it and when I drove it home. Welcome to Canada, 'eh?image22822.jpg

Cool to see some folks still buy regular cars instead of suvs or pick ups. Kind of miss seeing new sedans out here.

My wife drives a 2017 BMW X1 so i have the SUV thing covered. Its why I bought a used 2020 Camry when I needed to upsize from my 86 for the purposes of second kid.

I see some older sedans but seem they are slowly being weeded out over time in traffic... Theres more small hatchbacks as well than sedans. Course small town living you kind of expect there to be loots of pickups and suvs but its near ubiquitous now. Once in a blue moon you'll see a nice BMW or newer sedan typically during tourist season.

I wanted the Elantra because 90+ out of every 100km I drive is on the highway and my next big trip is going to be a 3000km run to Regina. The tires that came with the car are 'meh', but otherwise it just glides along. Not having gears takes some getting used to, but that CVT is getting me some absolutely stellar fuel economy - I'm averaging 5.5L/100km if I don't use cruise control (6-ish if I do).

Ya the 10l/100kms I get on the RAV4 is a bit hard on the pocketbook... probably gonna grab something hybrid next time.
