What's the best driving/racing game for the PC?

WHYNOW, thanks for the F1 2001 mod recommendation and links, that FIA GT2 mod is absolutely awesome. This is what gives PC gaming a special edge over consoles IMO! :drool:

Hey TheSweeney, C'daMan and others glad to share the link. I really feel it's the least I can do after the incredible amount of work the guys put into the absolutely stunning mod. I have a Gravis Eliminator Aftershock and the force feedback is nice, but the quality of this game really makes me lust after a decent wheel setup! I too have played slews of GT racers, and at this early stage in the game I would easily bet that the FIA GT Mod will win hands down as my fave GT sim and most likely fave racer overall. It is hard to play, you can spin out of control easily... but that is like reality. And, yes you have to tweak the game settings to get the experience just right. But mods like this and that tweakablility make my totally agree with C'daMan on why there will always be a place for pc gaming in a world of increasingly slick console gaming systems. IMO if I could only have one gaming system it would be a pc system hands down, even if I couldn't take into account the other cool stuff about owning a pc.

By the way anyone try Rally Trophy yet?
 
EA blows dogs! The updater won't update the damn game! Not that there's anything worng, but I can't download new cars and I'm sure there's been a patch or two since it was released...

Hey, just thought I would try to help you update your game and get it to be on the same level of enjoyment it is for me. First off, yeah ea can blow, so please don't use the lousy auto updater utility and do it maunually. There are two patches that have been released for the game. Get them at: http://www.ea.com/exphat.jsp?destURL=www.easportsf1.com , the patches really help out a lot with the physics if you are interested in playing the f1 version of the game, which is pretty good. But if like me, you are even more jazzed about the GT mod you can download for this game. This mod is amazing, has to be seen to believe. And now they are making versions of the tracks at dusk and night so you can get into true 24hr style gt racing, oh yeah baby! I prefer everything about the modded version of the game to the original, but still occasionally enjoy playing f1. ((ÐÅMÑËÐ)) if you havn't already, download this mod and at least the monza at dusk track and enjoy what may be the best racing sim out there. And yes the mod is free, you just need to own ea f1 2001 and have the official patches installed. Actually, I found that patches for f1...I was talking about Need For Speed III...

There's something about Hot Pursuit that I can't get away from!
 
Screamer 4x4!! I love that game, I play for hours and hours and hours and hours.... you get the idea.... It's a 4x4 off road simulator, I had to purchase it from UK cuz it's not avail here in the states. It makes 4x4 EVO look like a TYCO race track. This game the physics are absolutely amazing and ACCURATE! I own a Toyota 4x4, and I do alotta 4 wheeling on the weekends, and this game lets me go 4 wheeling mon-fri :D
