What are your criteria for a smartphone?

I see you're in Europe, how does Huawei rate over there?
Very popular over where I live (Finland) because of its pricing and decent specs - I cannot speak for the rest of EU.

My missus said like half of her workplace (healthcare) has a Huawei phone and the rest Samsung/iPhone.

+I want webbrowsing to be fast, no lag/rearranging pages while i browse/scroll etc etc.
+Good battery life.
+5.5" screen at 1080p or higher.
+Dont need the worlds best camera, but it should take the picture fast, not load 3-4 seconds after i press the button to show me it became a blurry mess.

We don't see many of them over here, often just the low end dumb/flip phones. The P10 looks pretty sick.

It is pretty sick, especially the +Version with 128gb and the Leica-camera.

As for the topic:

- good battery life
- good res
- good sound/Speakers
- 64gb+ storage

Trying to find Huawei here is like pulling teeth..but pulling teeth is easier.

After some searching on Amazon I have found a few which are in an acceptable price range. Added the Honor 8 to my list, verified useable on my network too.

make sure you get at least the premium version of the honor. Strange that you have that much problems to get your hands on that brand over there

Huawei may be viewed as one of those 'tier 2' brands and therefor isn't gaining popularity against the likes of LG, Samsung, and Apple. I see very little from Huawei in general through carriers. I think Best Buy carries one handset from them I can buy in store IF I'm willing to wait for it to arrive.

8 is oldish and might not receive Oreo - you should look at 9 if possible.

I will keep looking at the 9 in mind, I've been spoiled with Winders and iPhones for my last 3 handsets. Of which my last WinPhone would have received 10 if it wasn't a dud out of the box and Apple is pretty good about updating stuff. I'm surprised that a phone that's a year and a half old won't receive a step up in version of OS. From looking at the specs they seem pretty comparable. Yes I'm completely lost at this point but will take the advice.

Is that normal for Android? My last Android was a Motorola Droid 2 and it received 2.x but not 3.

Have you looked into the Essential Phone? At $499 seems like it might be right up your alley... I just ordered one this morning after 2 years with an iPhone 6s+... Will post impressions after I get it.

Might be different on the other side of the world, over here they're nowhere near "tier2", actually most people choose them OVER the known brands like Samsung.

As for the OS, well i don't think that's a Android-exclusive thing. Actually never had problems regarding updates so far. Can't tell about Winnie-phones or Apples.

Checked it out, if it drops closer to $400 I'll add it to my list. I can grab an Honor 8 for under $400 and a few others on my list, several Xperia, a couple Motorolas, possibly some LGs (not a huge fan but will add based on price for options).

Win Phone seemed to heavily depend on what the hardware was. I chose a flagship intending for it to last way longer than it did, it had issues out of the box though which I dealt with until it became unusable, likely due to my clumsiness. The iPhone 5s I've got has had a few full version updates, Apple seems to support their hardware for a decent chunk of time before the software needs a hardware upgrade to run properly.

.

If you decide to get a Honor do yourself a favor and get a honor 9 instead of the honor 8, you should be able to get one under 400 bucks.

The 9 is around $100 - 150 more than the 8. Based off specs and user reviews the 9 isn't that much better, but I'm also comparing paper to paper. Why is the 9 better than the 8 by that wide a margin?

faster procc, double storage, bigger battery, better camera with a lot higher res .... just to name a few

I'd give the slightly faster proc and slightly larger batt consideration. The camera while cool, I generally don't take pics with my phone anyway so that's irrelevant to my daily use box.

Storage is important and on Amazon I can grab the 8 with 64 geebees for $308. The 9 starts at 450 - 470. Also worth noting the 9 can be expanded more than the 8 can. Debating if that's necessary.

Also checking out the P series, 9's and 10's are both available.

I'm mostly limited to the note line, because I love the stylus.

But, when it really comes down to it....

5.5+ AMOLED screen with Ambient/Always On clock (Really like this feature)
Good camera
Good battery life (The note 5 battery is pretty terrible, my only complaint with the phone)
64GB + storage
Able to browse the web smoothly, and some moderate gaming (Minecraft PE being the most demanding thing I play I think)
