This happened much sooner than expected...

So any idea what you're thinking of trading this in for?

Or you think its more of a spur of the moment thing when the time comes?

Nothing beyond the fact that I will be watching the EV market closely. Some interesting stuff coming out within the next year or two.

The one thing I will say is if it is an EV I don't think it will be Tesla. Competition is heating up and their advantage is slowly eroding, especially with changes in infrastructure investment for non-Tesla charging. I am too spoiled to go back to their barebones plastic fantastic interiors. Not to mention their colossally stupid idea to now even remove the ultrasonic sensors from their vehicles as well. Hell, when they went vision only instead of using radar I almost drew the line. In fact I cancelled my original order when I read about it.

The Riven have much nicer interiors than the Teslas, and they're almost as fast. The fact that they just recalled their cars because of a possible loose bolt in the front end suspension impressed me more than worried me, they made a mistake and stepped up and took responsibility for it and are offering a free fix. Tesla wouldn't do that without government intervention, IMHO.

I want an electric very badly but I want a better/cheaper electric than is currently available. I figure 2-3 years will see a drastic change in the market.

I'm tired of internal combustion engines and transmissions that break, gimme some simple motors and a battery!

My problem with Rivian is that I am not 100% sure about their longevity. I also take issue with their pricing/packaging, which has changed drastically over time. Some of that is just the market (supply constraints, inflation, etc.), but some of it is purely a business decision. They had a really good value proposition at initial release, so maybe I am just bitter that I didn't reserve one then. LOL

My girlfriend got me a set of Tux Mats (front and rear set) as an early Christmas present. They are set to be delivered today.

I'll be happy to have them so I don't get the OEM mats or the floor full of snow/water, salt, and other dirt and debris this winter.

Clockwork, why do you trade your vehicles so frequently? No judgement here; just curious.

I am not sure that's something that can be summarized in one general explanation. Sometimes my motivation is rational. Sometimes it isn't.

Does it really matter? I'd probably drive a different car every day if I could. I like cars.
