Regarding DLSS3 and FSR 3

AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution (FSR)

Space Marine 2 currently supports FSR 2 “Super Resolution” component. It is designed to produce high quality image and boost frame rates through next-level temporal upscaling technology.

  • No minimum requirement for GPU to enable it as FSR is hardware agnostic.
With Patch 5.0, title will support FSR 3.1enabling “Frame Generation” component. Additionally to FSR 2 features, it delivers significant frame boosts and image quality from Frame Generation technology.

While it does not require machine learning hardware, AMD recommends the following minimum specification:

  • AMD Radeon™ RX 5000 Series and above.
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 20 Series and above.

So not just FSR 3... but the much better 3.1 which brings decoupled FrameGen to more GPU's.

Frame Interpolation Backend Improvements

The update brings general cleanup and optimizations in the Frame Interpolation Backend, improving the performance and reliability of interpolation algorithms. This enhances the frame transitions, particularly in games using the FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.

Mentions some improvements to FSR3-FG. So it may improve the quality of the FSR3-FG when swapped in. Haven't seen anyone test that yet though.

Interesting info from Marc Czerny of PS fame of upcoming collaboration with AMD on ML/AI driven graphics and gameplay to avoids the nvidia proprietary system.

It’s unclear why the 9070 series is mentioned specifically. Does this mean the 9060 series lacks the necessary hardware? Does it imply no support for RDNA3? These questions remain unanswered for now.

Remember this is "leaked"... so treat it like rumour till we have some official information.

We'll know in 2 hrs but I really doubt they wont leverage the AI units in the 7000 series...

and unfortunately... nothing. They said during the keynote they will share more information, later this quarter :hmm:

Wow. Why didnt they tell the media first they were delaying the RDNA 4 launch? The chip has been ready for months and the drivers as well so I cant see why delaying it makes any sense. Partners have been putting their AIB models out for people to see already... had to have been some kind of last second change.

The one thing that comes to mind is that the big issue with RDNA was its chiplet driver. So they could put 2 gpus in one package. They had given themselves about 4 months to fix it and at some point decided to drop it in favor of the one GPU model. I think its possible tho obviously pure speculation that since they decided to put the chiplet design off to RDNA5/UDNA1 that some guy working away at it got the darn thing working... And now they want to pump out a 2 gpu design to take on the high end... The only other reason I can figure is financial in that they want to use capacity for AI M300 production for a few more months.

They did... that's why articles and videos are already up on the subject, almost immediately after the keynote. They where just waiting for the embargo to lift.

Techspot looks pretty surprised themselves tho at the soft launch. If that was AMD's intention all along they would have told them earlier and avoided the hype a bit...

Indeed.

Found this interesting, about the footnote the VideoCardZ talked about earlier today...

We also spotted a rather interesting footnote, which reads: AMD FSR 4 upgrade feature only available on AMD Radeon RX 9070 series graphics for supported games with AMD FSR 3.1 already integrated. This implies that AMD has developed some sort of conversion system that will take a game with FSR 3.1 and automatically upgrade it to FSR 4 when you have an RX 9070 graphics card.

We asked AMD about this strange footnote that doesn't seem related to any of the main points on the slide, and they declined to elaborate or explain this, which is a little unusual. If this feature does exist in the way the footnote seems to suggest, it would be a very solid way to launch FSR 4, given that FSR 3.1 is already available in around 50 games.

hhhmmm. Going to be very interesting to see how that plays out, or if it was a typo of some type and thats why AMD didn't want to talk about it further.

I could see some cool mods coming out and FSR4 becoming available officially to 7000 or other gen only later on. If its out on shelves by March or month or 2 after the RTX 5K thats fine its not the old days of being 6+ months after Nvidia.

We know we know where gamers buy products. It's well below that $1000 price point, and we're aiming for a card that delivers outstanding performance where most gamers are buying their cards today. That's not at $1000+, it’s well below that.

New Lossless Scaling up to x20 frame gen... man...

lol, gotta imagine the person behind lossless scaling saw nVidia copy his 3x and 4x mode and just went full "hold my beer"

AMD should just buy and integrate it to AFMF2 and make it open source... would really piss on Nvidia's parade lol.
