The BIG upcoming Radeon Adrenaline driver 2019

yeah my only real issues ive run into this driver are.

1) wattman global profile needing to be reloaded on every reboot (its just annoying as my OC is completely stable and is actually quite modest)

2) the overlay is can be extremely buggy with it flickering and or seemingly causing an application level crash of games. (not a huge deal as I only really need it for testing new game settings to make sure im happy with the FPS now that I have a 144hz freesync 2 panel)

My experience is if your watman profile has to be reloaded each boot, then your OC is not stable. You may have tested it and it appears stable, but there is still instability that watman detects, hence why it resets.

I say this because I too thought i had stable OC, and had the same issue in previous drivers. But in the end, it wasn't stable. In fact of all games that actually brought the instability to the surface was 7 days to die. Rainbow six's siege can also bring out instability. On the Vega, what both games would to is at one point cause the core clocks to spike. Once i adjusted my clock speeds and voltages and eliminated the spikes, both games ran great with no crashes, and watman would load my profiles on boot. The spikes where only for a split second, but enough to cause a crash in those two games. With 7 days to die being the worst offender.

As for the overlay, i very seldom use any overlays, as they tend to cause problems, game dependent of course. Even steam overlay and/or msi afterburner overlay (It's OSD uses rivatuner) still causes problems in various games to this day, and they have many, many years under their belt in making it work properly with games. some games just don't like overlays.
