The BIG upcoming Radeon Adrenaline driver 2019

Why should they? You still paid over $1200 for a $750 card :bleh:

no I paid $1350 for a $1350 card

but NV's driver has not changed since long before I paid $1200 for two 680 directcu ii oc's

and how much faster is one 2080 ti over 680 sli :hmm:

Looks like the brain drain continues at RTG:

Math is hard. Screw it, imma go work at Intel!

Just be glad you have notifications off so it doesnt punch you in the butt about a "new" driver version all the time.

Speaking of notifications being off maybe put in a timer so it doesn't jack my wig back every time the servers die that what which pull these game advisor functions from.

18.12.2 is WHQL while 18.12.3 is BETA...I thought you knew that?

Btw that "mismatch" has been like that for as long as I remember, AMD/ATI always add a recommended (WHQL) and beta drivers and the first was always a older version than the last, for the simple reason that, it takes time to certify a driver by Microsoft.

i got a notification like that but once i got it cleared...it doesn't ask me that again. *shrug* I dunno what's wrong with your radeon settings. EDITED: BTW, I'm using 18.12.2 and not planning to update to 12.3. No issue so far.

18.12.3 is whql as well >:E

All the new drivers appear to be really awful. I stopped with the first one but looking around other forums there seems to be just utter condemnation for these drivers. Some things just don’t work, others are missing (I hear they removed the 0db fan thing in the latest drivers?) it’s just a real cluster f**k TBH.

Kombatant it seems a lot of the management have left and it means the lunatics have taken over the asylum I’m afraid. Lots of non QA stuff is just being released with no one at top trying to control it. Sad days really. Someone like Suise Sue needs to start leading RTG and getting it’s act together. It appears David Wang doesn’t know what he’s doing TBH. Out of his depth I’m afraid.

AMD need to either back RTG to the hilt or sell it along with it’s IP (excluding console tech) to someone like Intel who will at least they to match NV at the high end.

Maybe it’s time AMD just relied on Zen 2, APU’s and consoles to survive otherwise they just might not make it. Just my 2c’s.

You are not helping by being so negative and why are the drivers really awful? What part of the driver doesn't not work? I want to know because they apparantly work fine to me.

And do you really think it would be better for us the consumer if Intel and Nvidia were the only ones making gaming grade GPU's?

there are not that many people having issues with AMD drivers. on every forum, it is only a few.. out of how many people running AMD GPUs in the world? After taking in to account all the different hardware configurations out there, which is impossible for ANY manufacture to test, there aren't any real issues at all outside the normal for any manufacture.. be it AMD,Nvida, Intel, etc. Heck Nvidia had to release a hotfix driver just this week to fix some issues..

Add in the issues that are caused by the user, or something they have running on their PC (antivirus, add on software like display fusion, etc, which can cause issues) etc.. the issues are nearly non existent. The only change I have noticed is GPU temps, but they are still within the GPU spec, so it really isn't an issue over all, and it isn't the first time temps have been effected by drivers, it happens to Nvidia as well as AMD. Heck even I have ran into issues in the past, and in the end, guess where the problem ends up being 99% of the time... it was the interface between the chair and the keyboard the caused it aka me, or something I did, or some utility I decided to use, but very seldom does it turn out to be the actual driver, or piece of hardware that is the cause.

As for the administration that is leaving AMD, it has already been stated that those that left have ZERO to do with the driver department.

So, yea.. about that negativity.

Feedback on Gigabyte seems very low on problems where I also look out for am4 mobos. It sounds a lot like a typical failure rate of mass produced units. Or theres something amiss like a bad ps or iffy oced ram that influences behavior on other components.

Im very happy with stability so far.

Yeah, LordHawkwind is kind of our own resident "ZOMG DOOM AND GLOOM" guy these days but what can you do eh

And guys, really? Driver versions? This has been there since forever; two different types of drivers, Recommended and Optional. 18.12.2 is recommended, 18.12.3 is optional.

Old pic I found on google images to re-iterate the "forever" part:

he could buy a RTX and have the same driver problems

I have had fewer problems with AMD drivers over the last 3 years than NV and I won't even talk about that useless POS geforce experience
