Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

I'm still fairly interested in this game, simply because it does try to emulate Souls-like combat which i do like. But that can be a blessing and a curse, as most Souls-likes do not live up to expectations. Will have to judge for myself.

Will probably pick it up soon if i can find it cheap enough.

I wouldn't call the combat Souls-like. It's more the campfire to save and Regen health and level up but this will also respawn enemies mechanic that makes it Souls-like.

Those are often interactive loading screens. Previous area gets unloaded from memory, upcoming area gets loaded.
I don't want to believe it. This actually makes sense and I'm a little mad about it.

Yeah it's not souls-like just because you can't hold down attack buttons and can roll/dodge/sprint.

You are right, I actually misspoke. I meant to say it emulates Souls-like gameplay. I actually don't know too much about the combat in this game.

well, if you don't play on Jedi difficulty it isn't THAT hard. That being said, i've had some frustrating moments while playing on Jedi, but it's still very doable.

Ran into a difficulty spike ( the arena, against this giant troll and spider, simultaneously ), and decided I'm playing to feel like a powerful Jedi, not a little putz who gets eaten by spiders. So I rage quit, tried again, then set the difficulty down a notch.

It's really a lovely game, possibly the best Star Wars title I've ever played. And if you have or get GamePass (either EA's own or MS's big one), you can play this for a few bucks at most, cancel your subscription again and be on your way. It's worth the normal selling price too though.

That Arena was a bitch to get through lol. Last boss is where you definitely have to set difficulty lower.

I had no issues with that Arena. Took me a few tries, but each time I knew I could do better. Ninth Sister battle pwns the Arena battle.

Done. The game had slowed down to a crawl for the third quarter, but really picked up again for the last quarter. Knowing about the difficulty spikes, I chose Story Mode difficulty and thoroughly Jedi'd my way through any opposition. Great production values, a lot of interesting tricks up its sleeve and a cool Star Wars story that doesn't feel bogged down by existing lore.

Like many big production games, I feel this one would've benefited from being tighter in terms of its narrative. The game takes you from world to world, then back to a previous world, then forward to another, for hours of backtracking that deliver mere crumbs of exposition. Either make the goal important / interesting / relevant to the player, or make it quick - Fallen Order sometimes does neither. Wouldn't have minded if a few of the really cool scenes and changes to the story had been moved around a bit to earlier in the game.

As it stands, Fallen Order is a great game, I'm glad I got around to it.

Wow, you really burned through that. I got to the arena two weekends ago and only just got to Illum last night.

I made quick work of 9th sister by telling her I am the 8th sister in a poncho.
Pretty sure I saw that movie on the hub.

Took me +/- 20 hours in total, which is in line for a playthrough, especially on the lower difficulty settings. Vacation time helps.

Yeah I had vacation time as well. No cell service. No internet. It was four days of hell. (It was actually pretty good but would have been better if I could do simple things like check weather or get emails).

I love that Steam tells me how active I've been over the last two weeks, but sometimes it's depressing.

I can get this game for only $7.99 on Epic right now with my $10 off coupon. Considering it, but still thinking its Star Wars and lightsabers so meh.

Think I'll watch some gameplay videos this afternoon and try to decide before the sale ends tomorrow.

It's very worth it I'd say.

Do you have Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass for PC? It's on there through the included EA Play.

Just watched about an hour of various gameplay parts. Decided its not for me.

Maybe if it was the same single player campaign style but based on a bounty hunter, or something other than yet another Jedi. I mean I knew it was jedi based obviously, but figured the gameplay would be interesting enough to make it worthwhile.
