STALKER 2

Man that sucks so bad for them, especially the guy that hasn't been in contact with his parents.

I really hope they all can stay safe and that this war ends sooner than later.

This still looks promising, for those of you playing stalker anomaly you should check out the Screen Space Shaders addon Mod. It pretty much brings stalker's graphic effects up to rdr2 technical levels. Whole new ball game.

Totally true guys, but must admit I'm hyped for Stalker 2. I went back and played some Anomaly again after seeing the_sextein's post. The original (with or without mods) was such an epic experience, I hope Stalker 2 can live up to the name. Most modern games just don't interest me (get off my lawn).

Is STALKER worth boning today?

I loved it back when it came out but in think part of it was the environment and atmosphere which wouldn’t hold up as well today with all the graphical and lighting improvements.

Holy shit, has this really been in development since 2010?!! Has it been in active development all that time or did it get put on the back burner at some point? Thirteen years is a crazy long time for a game to be in development. That might take the record from Duke Nukem Forever.

Its out now... go get it! Also part of GamePass... so no need for an additional purchase if you got that already :D

Some little tips...

Manual Method for Ultrawide FOV fix
- Find AppliedSettings.cfg
- Change the FOV value to be higher (130 looked good for 32:9. Suggest maybe 120 for 21:9)
- Directory: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Stalker2\Saved
--For Steam: likely under subfolder \GameSettings\
--For GamePass: Likely under subfolder \*seemingly random character string*\GameSettings\
**Special note** This will reset if you change settings from the game menu!

RayReconstruction For GeForce users
- Find AppliedSettings.cfg
- Change RayReconstruction = false
to RayReconstruction = true
- Directory: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Stalker2\Saved
--For Steam: likely under subfolder \GameSettings\
--For GamePass: Likely under subfolder \*seemingly random character string*\GameSettings\
**Special note** I have no way to verify this works. As I do not have GeForce hardware available to me. So report back if it does or does not work.

I watched someone stream the first hour or two of the game, I liked what I saw, the gameplay seems to be pretty much the same as the old ones, they did not veilguard this by changing into something else just to reach a broader audience.

I was a bit worried that they would far cry the shit out of it, but it really just looked like stalker, with much better graphics.

And horrible english VO, just like the original games.

Yeah they really kept the important parts from the old games.

TBF my thought was that the voice acting wasn't bad, but the dialogue was. None of it made sense. Skif has a rock as he's driven into a zone, the truck crashes, and the guy with the scanner says he spent his life savings on it and doesn't want it to get ruined because the rock in Skif's hand is not a real artifact. Seems that they would have worked that out before making the commitment to drive into a radiation storm.

Tried on game pass, runs like absolute dog crap on my PC, new GPU on the way but I can run FS2024 looking fantastic but this on low settings and runs dog poor. Uninstalled.

I seem to remember the first one was ...quite taxing too. Wonderful atmosphere though: audio, visuals, story. Never finished it myself.

Veilguard however runs amazingly well technically, hard not to be impressed. It feels like a modern PC game. But man am I having problems just playing this thing. I'm not sure what it is even 10 hours in now. Actually don't want to play it. But I will...

English voice acting is worse than the original because you have a mix of british, scottish and american people and zero people with a slavic accent. Hell some guy changed his voice when I spoke to him. I loathe how Skif speaks but you can skip most of his crap dialogue anyway. I would change it to ukranian but I'd probably miss a lot of story because I'm in combat or doing something while others speak.

So far this game is a mixed bag. It definitely has a lot of that old feel, and some of that is good, but tbh I think they really needed to bring some things into the modern age. It is just all around clunky when it doesn't need to be. Take grabbing loot, for example. You shoot or melee a crate and the item might pop out and get stuck under the crate. That is just an example but it's just silly crap that doesn't need to be like that in 2024..

The AI is horrendous and really hurting my experience. 4 guys spawn around my building, 2 non hostile. I run away from the hostile dudes who fire at me, so I fire back at them. The 2 non-hostile guys now just start attacking me. Like what the fuck is this shit? I wish they had a faction system. seems like that's something that should be in the sequel. That could have really enhanced the world with different groups spawning and quests etc.

The world is big and has some cool locations but I'm really not impressed with it visually due to poor foliage, empty/bland interiors, bad reflections and the stupid upscaling sludge that makes everything a blur fest. They haven't used UE5 well and I'm kinda shock how average it looks given how badly it runs. I wonder if it would run better if the world was half the size.

Honestly i'm kinda getting annoyed by games that use unreal engine. There is obscene amount of shimmering on light/shadows/foliage, smearing, weird haloing/shadowing around fast moving objects. The hardware requirements for these games are nuts but they look worse than stuff a decade or more ago from an image quality perspective.
An explanation on why it's happening:
