Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass

I hope they improve the feel of the shootbang, it has never felt quite right compared to the id software titles.

That whole thing kinda ticked me off. From "join us at E3 for a full game reveal, and more!" to "sorry, it's closed door for the press only" to press reporting "relatively early stages of development"

At no point after playing through Serious Sam 3 did I think that I would want a Serious Sam 4, but here we are.

I got tired of Serious Sam 3 because it got real repetitive.

The formula was nice in the past, but I hope it's not the same thing over again. Waves of enemies thrown at you every time you pick up a key or powerup or something. It was fun back in Serious Sam 1 and 2 because it was novel, but 3 really wore me out to the point where I didn't even finish the game. I just play a level like every 6 months, eventually I'll get to the end.

I doubt they can get the magic back. #2 was it for me. 3 didn't do much for me at all. Will wait for reviews and a deeply price cut sale.

If it's just Doom but in the open, again, I'm gonna be disappointed as well. SS3 still looks pretty good, hell the remasters look pretty good even today. Soooo if they are doing a new game... I wanna see some change ups personally.

SS3 was okay but I don't quite know how you'd make it much better without changing the basic gameplay. Maybe more types of enemies, big boss battles, and some faster movement options. Or they could go for more environmental destruction / interaction.

If they change the formula people will piss and moan its not SS any more.

They are really in a hard spot I feel.

Going in heavy on environmental destruction could be bad ass. As could potentially adding vehicle based or mech battles/fights.

I don't know. I mean SS is not exactly treading new ground. It's charm is in relishing the simple tropes of FPS while doing it at a larger, or stupid, scale. There are plenty of those it could wade into and rock at in the Serious Sam style.

SS Multiplayer Co-Op (Any Version except SS2) on Serious difficulty with Extra Enemies Per Player + Extra Enemy Strength and Extra Enemy Strength Per Player cranked up is anything but boring. Loads of fun fighting hoards of super-tough enemies and multiple types at the same time. Complete chaos at times.

I love Serious Sam. Can't wait for Planet Badass.
