Polaris GPU Revisions with 50% Better Perf/Watt [WCC]

This may be another indication that a new chip is ready:
200$ AIB 480

Wasn't the 480 originally rumored to cost $200? Actually hitting that price 3+ months later does not indicate a "replacement" card is inbound, if you ask me.

Now, if AMD believes sales of RX 480s are suffering due to the ongoing effects of public perception stemming from the "over power" incident I could see them wanting to replace the card.

It did cost 200$ at the beginning. This is a third party card. You know, higher clock, better fans, etc.

Also, you have no idea what AMD believes. Only nVidia troll sites still think of the power issue...

I guess you don't know the meaning of the word IF

Its still well above msrp and sales of it have only started so its hardly been hurt. While 10 gen have been having sales since early sept here.

they should just do what they did last time. vega x watercolled vega air cooled

I guess.... I just don't feel the need for them doing it this time as Vega 10 will be about 50w less (if rumors are true) than Fiji XT. But as i will prob get the Vega pro i guess it doesn't matter.

I think AMD should have Vega X water, Vega X air and Vega air. Not everyone wants or needs water cooling but it's great to have the option.

Agreed 100%. $499 for Vega Pro, $599 for Vega XT, $649 Vega XT WC? :D But Gandalf might be right, they could stick to last gens formula. All Vega 10s better have 16gb of ram.....

Well, this finally proves that WCCF Tech has *no* idea what they're talking about.

They're speculating that AMD will release new desktop graphics card SKUs based on new revisions of Polaris because due to an extrapolation they've deducted based on the reduced power consumption of embedded parts.

Now, this may be a huge shock, but embedded parts lack several components that discrete parts require. Namely, a PCB and all surface mounted components (aside from RAM). Due to this fact, THEY REQUIRE LESS POWER! Now, unless you think AMD is going to release PCB-less graphics cards to consumers any time soon, we won't be seeing lower power Polaris parts any time soon. There hasn't been enough time since launch for AMD to go back and respin Polaris for lower power.

Sorry, it's just not happening right now.

Actually, if you read closely, they said its rolling out to mobile in the next couple of months, but they dont know if its going ot make it to the desktop.

Not sure where everyone got its going to the desktop from.

The new revisions will be available immediately to the embedded market under the E9550 and E9260 product names for Polaris 10 and 11 respectively. The updated revisions are believed to be coming to the mobile market in the form of mobility Radeon RX 400 series graphics cards in the coming months. It’s not clear yet whether AMD will also introduce the new revision to the desktop market.

this one on the other hand implies tweaked board design and power delivery, not new chips:

Well, unfortunately, it's true. VR experience on AMD is crap. I had to swap out my Fury for a 1080 because of it. It's because UE4 runs poorly on AMD and half the VR games are UE4. There are some serious shenanigans going on with UE4 with Epic letting Nvidia help write the engine for them, but, unfortunately, it means that for VR you're screwed on AMD.

It's nothing wrong with 1070 ... is the owner in a ...
.... I feel someone got the germ of "hardware" obssesion (amd atachement) and doesn't really enjoy games anymore ... Anyone wants to help him wake up a bit ?

Here is a plan that a "negative" thing may turn in positive thing ...
I bought an gtx 1070 and i am an AMD fan...Fury X series will be hard resell at decent price in next year to come..If now is 380$ and Vega apears the price will end in 1xx $ value...On the other hand Nvidia market is much bigger and there is a bigger chance of selling the 1070 at decent price and buy a Vega...Now an investment in Fury makes sense if you want to keep it for some years to come but if you are waiting for Vega it makes no sense to replace the 1070...

Nothing per say, I just don't like nvidia. I should of bought a Fury X it was cheaper, by almost a hundred dollars and it is beating the 1070 in BF1....
Good man  At Amazon the prices of Fury cards is up and down, sometime falls below $300 for normal Fury (currently $289.99 for Sapphire Fury) Damn, I should have bought that instead of RX 470 but not really necessary since I play old games nowadays.
