Playstation 4 - News and Info

You came across as a dick thinking nobody does their research etc. I will go check out if X900F is available but I have seen the Samsungs side by side with OLED and blacks are quite comparable whereas Sony blacks were like gray when put side by side. Sony also had very poor motion quality. Maybe they improved these things now. Given how far they were 1 year ago I doubt it though.

I was trying to be a dick. You clearly didn't research or test the X900F. You looked at older models and then claimed all of them are junk.

The Sony X900F with no image on the screen (just black) literally looks like the TV is turned off. There is no mistaking this. I don't use a screensaver and just have a black desktop on my PC and have gone into my office and actually turned the TV off multiple times thinking I was turning it on. It is, quite literally, perfect black with zero light bleed.

The big difference is in how the pixels are lit, so you get a little bit of blooming around some bright images on black backgrounds. The picture also degrades slightly more at an angle, compared to the LG B7. Otherwise, they are reasonably comparable. I do prefer the menus of the B7, but that's subjective opinion.

I'm going to roll the dice on the 65" P series vizio. BB just dropped the price to $1K.

Then wait for OLED to mature.

It was my 2nd favorite in the IQ department.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. Like I said earlier, I have an M series from the year they didn't make a P and it holds its own against my LG E6 OLED. You will need to calibrate it for sure though. Out of the box the colors will be way off.

I'm worried about some user reviews but overall I thought the picture was phenomenal. On par with the Sony. But like mentioned earlier, the store settings are wonky
so it'll only get better.

I'll calibrate for sure.

Feels like I'm cheating on my Plasma lol

Awesome, let us know what you think when you have it home and the settings adjusted to your preference. Curious what you think of it.

I've never had my X900F calibrated. Always thought that I should to get it perfect, though it was pretty good out of the box. I do wonder if it could be better and if I'd really notice. All I did was look at RTings best settings they recommended, used those, and left it there.

Finished Zero Dawn tonight. Played through the entire game plus the expansion. Good stuff, really enjoyed it. Took about 80hrs to do the whole thing, so it was a decently long game with 100% of all missions done (except weapon training missions) and nearly all data/artifacts found. Had the best Shield Weaver armor, every weapon with the best modifications, etc. Made the final sequences of the game a cakewalk. Ending suggested there will be another one...sure hope so!

Started playing Spiderman tonight. Not really digging it after the first 15-20min. I'm sure it'll grow on me like Zero Dawn did, but so far the web swinging is pretty damn boring (after all the raving I've heard about it!!??) and the combat is just OK.

HZD was a great game!

I have been waiting for a good sale on Spiderman digital before getting it. Had a couple friends say they got bored of it quicker than they expected to.

Spiderman is seriously a pretty great game. Even setting aside any biases because friends worked on it, it's exactly what I was hoping for in a Marvel Spiderman open world web slinging game. I'm really hoping Insomniac has another Marvel IP in their future.

It's definitely growing on me. :p

It has just the right amount of action. I'm getting use to the combat and his constant comedic quips keep things light and fun, just like the Spiderman character in the Avenger movies. I'm 30% through the story and plowing through the story and all the extras pretty quick. May grab the DLC and do it all in one play through, or play something else after this and come back to it for the DLC after a bit of a rest.

Finished Spiderman. Fun game, the story was pretty good. The combat was a ton of fun, especially toward the end when I had everything unlocked. Finished the game at 100% of everything completed except for the crime objectives.

Now playing God of War. Graphics, voice acting, story, and animation are top notch. They did a great job with that stuff. The gameplay/combat, so far, seems like mind-numbing hack and slash. Not digging that part so far, which is the core of the game. Found myself getting really bored pretty quick of it. I've always avoided these types of games, but given the reviews...I'm sure it'll get better. :)

Isn’t your default stance that all games are meh in the beginning.

Leaning that way with these PS4 games. Everything from Naughty Dog was unbelievably amazing, which was probably the issue. Loved them instantly. Zero Dawn and Spiderman took a few hours. We'll see if God of War does the same.

God of War has deep combat. Once you get into the rhythm after some initial story development stuff, you really get to have fun with it.

Also you need RDR2, Ass Creed Origins and Odyssey to round off your time on PS4.

RDR2 is on the backlog, see pic I posted earlier.

Haven't decided if I want Origins and Odyssey on PS4 or PC yet. Not even on the radar though, they can wait.

I started Read Dead 2 late December and I am only 50% through the story according to the menu system. There is so much to do in the game its mind boggling. Its not like an Assassins Creed type thing where there are blips across the map its definitely more organic side missions. Find them as you go and come around places. Its a nice change up from most games these days.

My wife really enjoys hunting things down. Part of the reason I havent been able to finish is because shes been hunting down all the legendary fish/animals

Just a heads up that the % you're seeing is not just the story, but it includes some of those side "missions." When I was done with the story and the epilogue(s) my save was only around 80%. As I've messed around in it every so often and gotten more of the legendary animals and other side stuff, it has slowly gone up.

I just got to Guarma. So I know there is this chapter and at least another left for me.
