Other ways to increase gpu performance without buying a gpu

I put all my ideas to the table and let the people who visit this thread decide if they want 1440p at medium settings or low settings or 1080p at high or ultra high.

Nah just keep buying a smaller monitor. As new generations of games hit you dont have to upgrade just go down a notch in resolution. Problem solved

I wonder how low I can go?

Wait a minute that just sounds wrong

OK, I like that that idea. Many Ragers in the USA and Europe cannot get top end cards at all due to lack of availability so good thread for increasing mileage on what you already have.

This is why I went back to 1440P/240 from 4k/144. It just wasn't worth it, any decent looking game demanded way too much out of 4k. More so with DLSS/DSR, 1440p just makes so much more sense for the next few years.

Agreed, but…there’s always a ‘but’…I always get the impression that the OP is always looking for max settings regardless of how low a rez he has to run to get them. In my personal experience, I would much rather have a higher rez on a larger screen with medium>high settings, a mix of the two, than the low rez with high settings.

To each their own I guess. The 1070 I just gave my grandson (with 3570k) performed much better at 1440p than I was led to believe it would. Nowhere near a modern card, but not bad at all.

You can use VSR to get 4k when you can.I used to play games with it enabled on 1080p monitor to run 1440p and 4k.It does very good job.You can always go back to the native resolution.

A look at just how big, or not, the various presets are in some games. Medium often looks pretty damn nice.

For me setting a global "medium" is not acceptable in vast majority of the games presented in the video. That flat image quality and lifeless is not worth it.I prefer 1080p with high or higher as i said.I do not feel the resolution drop to be so anoying and game breaking immersive. But medium setting is a game-breaking on most games.Fortunetly in most games custominzing the setting one by one is the best aproach for me.
For example when i play Cyberpunk in 1080p i put most of the settings on Ultra and i turned 3 setting to medium or low.
The 1060 or 1050ti users do not have that luxury even with 1080p.I wouldn't consider dropping to medium at 1080p.I prefer to not play the game at all.All it's atmosphere and immersivity is lost.
